Churned up about child going to school....

Well I took her and it was much worse than I expected - unfortunately DH was called away on way there a family emergency-so I had to go alone.
When I dropped 2 year old son off at nursery he went berserk as he realised she wasnt staying, and all the staff cried at her in her new uniform looking all grown up.
That was bad enough but I managed to fight back the tears and drive to school but my hands were shaking. Got to school, and all the mums and dads in the playground seemed to know eachother and I was just stood there like a lemon, but I suppose thats what you get living in small semi rural towns. Very clicky...
Bell went and took her into the new class and sat her on the carpet and again all the other kids seemed to know eachother and she looked very frightened, then, when each and every child was sat on the carpet the teacher asked them all to wave goodbye to their mummies and daddies and Lauren just flipped and panicked - luckily I stayed calm and hugged and reassured her - she kept saying she wanted to be with ben
I was ok until I got round the corner when I started crying, luckily DH's nanny lives around the corner so I popped in for a cup of tea and a chat, its amazing how old ladies can make you feel so much better!
Thank god its over and done with! Thanks everyone for all your words of encouragement its really helped me get through this...

I'll be ok, I'm agitated as hell now though. I think I might take the day off (self employed thank god!)
Had some good news this morning hubby has got a new job in management so I suppose that warrants a day off?!I am a Mortgage Adviser

On my DD1's first day at school she was up most of the night before worrying about it. The next morning she was ill but I thought I couldnt ring in sick for her on the first day because it would look funny. So I took her anyway. Then about half way through the afternoon the teacher rang up to say she had fell asleep in the classroom so I had to go and get her.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hi MM
Don't worry about it. In a few weeks time you'll wonder what all the fuss is about.
We have the same tomorrow with Ella and C is feeling the same. She's the most confident of the four yet also the only one who has cried. She did it during the couple of trial days at school and I expect she'll be the same again tomorrow.
As for getting to know the other parents, soon the party invites will flow giving you loads of opportunities to get to know the others.0 -
Aww. ((((hugs)))) When we become mothers we WORRY.
I still worry myself sick over everything to do with my lads it's perfectly normal. This weekend I've (mainly) worried how eldest son is going to get his car fixed (gear box gone) with no money. He's not worried thou, just me!0 -
I bet when you pick her up - she will have had a great time. I don't think there is anything wrong with you feeling upset - she's your child and you miss her when she's not with you - also as you don't have many close friends there - you will miss her even more. I felt quite teary this morning dropping my son off in year1. He was excited to be back at school. He went over to say hello to his reception teacher and teaching assistant and that upset me too - (that he's not with them). When they went in - there were few mums blinking back tears.
I would give it a week and then ask her if she wants to invite a friend for tea or just to play for an hour after school. when they come you can invite the other mum for a coffee.
Hope she's had a fab time wehn you collect her.0 -

I am dreading it too! My daughter who has been in the nursery at this school for 2 hours a day, will be moving up to reception tomorrow!!
9am-3.30pm.
I have knots in my stomach thinking about it! I would rather go into Labour or have me teeth out, than stand with her in her little uniform at 8.55am in the playground!
My other daughter (7) is also going into the juniors!!
Double whammy for me tomorrow.
God i feel sick........................:eek:0
