what if you refuse to do the placement full stop? Any placement?
well like i said you are very likely to be refered for a sanction. despite there being good reasons for not wanting to do a placement it is still best to just do it. you cant win. in alot of cases people dont find them to be as bad as they feared. if you did find yourself in a placement you hate then just keep in mind that doing the bare minimum will probably be enough to keep you out of trouble. basically in most cases you dont have to bust a gut. if you did purposely be slower or more incompetent just make sure they dont know you are doing it on purpose. you also have to make a judgement regarding whether they could react against you in some way that makes things worse.

Is it really worth it? Why not just get a job?

this sounds like you are implying that people are choosing this instead of getting a job.

  • Latest developments whilst still on this cursed course - was given ( or demanded) an alternative "work placement" interview at another high end top range superstore.

I turned up and when asked what the prospects of landing a job at the end of working a 9 -6 shift for free ( or £65 if u include the dole) I was told they have a great record of hiring staff on from such placements. They then proceeded to tell me how much they demanded I work hard and non stop, and the manager of the area I would be working in would be watching me like a Hawk and she doesnt accept laziness!
With knowledge that someone who had been there a week before and a week after and both had told me "they dont hire anyone from this scheme, it's a scam" I basically was polite but said I have concerns regarding the whole system.

I would have !!!!ed this whole thing off by now but my part time job has let me down - by not frickin' paying me!!!

That's one thing I cant fault the system for. At least I've had no probs regarding payments.

So looking forward to another 2 weeks of mind numbing zombiefied !!!! talking.

are they still referring people for this. I was told there had been changes but not sure what they are?

I am due to be re-reffered this week. I did a rapid reclaim a few weeks ago. I am due to be reffered back to where i left off. I leave the course in June but i havent done my one month yet?

I registered with the board last night, made a couple of posts and immediately get some ignorant, abusive comment. You must be quite pleased I'm sure. Strangely, this is the sort of diatribe Job Centre staff have to put up with every single day, although your little comment is trivial by nature in comparison.

It's quite simple, if you choose to claim JSA you must abide by the rules that come with it. If you don't like the rules then don't make a claim to JSA. Why claim something and then complain about it?

I take it you would also think it right to take out a loan then complain about the terms and conditions afterwards?

I would also point out that some people are very selective about what they will quote to the Job Centre staff, i.e. the law says I am entitled to £X per week to live on, etc. Very true, but they conveniently forget to quote the other bits in their paperwork that mentions conditionality, including attending placements. Funny that isn't it?

When mandatory training courses arise, people have been claiming for a fair while, 6 - 12 months or longer, so whatever they have been doing to try and find work has unfortunately been unsuccessful. This is the reason for training courses, placements, etc. Unless of course Arg you think continuing to do the same thing without a positive outcome is a good idea?

Now that would be stupid wouldn't it?

Out of curiosity Arg, what would you suggest we do?
I don`t think, that writing about anyone being ignorant/ abusive... helps. You just don`t live their lives...
This country went to dogs :-(
