Are you going to give the OP some advice then?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I would suggest contacting either the CAB or local benefits advice centre to find out just what you are entitled to. Personally I think that it's disgusting of some people to suggest that she is in some way irresponsible not to even consider abortion.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

If you have worked for your past employer for 2 years you will be entitled to maternity allowance from the jobcentre, it is basically the same as SMP, but its paid by the Jobcentre not your employer. You need to hand in 13 weeks worth of wage slips (it can be any weeks wage slips, doesnt have to be 13 consecutive weeks) and your MA will be worked out from there, you will get 6 weeks pay at 90% of your earnings, and the rest will be paid at the current rate of SMP, which is at present about £120. However if you earned less than SMP per week you will be paid 90% of what you earned if that makes sense. MA is paid for 39 weeks same as SMP.0

It might be disgusting if people had suggested she have an abortion but why do you believe that she shouldn't consider all her options before coming to a conclusion?0 -

I think that what older was suggesting was that she think long & hard about the situation & whether now is the appropriate time to have a baby considering she doesn't have a job or even anywhere to live herself.
Apologies older if ive stepped on your toes.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

The OP might be totally against the idea of abortion and that's why she hasn't even thought about it, I was kind of in her situation at age 19, except I had a job and rented house. The hospital told me that my unborn son had problems (he was born with his stomach and intestines outside of his body) and more or less tried to tell me I should have an abortion. Luckily I am totally against the idea (I'm not religious or anything, I just see it as getting rid of a life) and my son is now perfectly healthy aged 6 nearly 7. If she feels that she should keep the baby then I hope she does get all the support she needs, be that financially or otherwise. Sometimes people use abortions like a form of contraception (someone in my family is like that  ) and it's so wrong.Everyone I know wants to be a millionaire.
Not me, I want to be a billionaire.0 -
I was against the idea of abortion but found myself pregnant at 19 & in an abusive controlling relationship.
I knew I wasn't ready for a baby & if I had that baby I would have my partner (that I was trying desperately to get away from) in my life forever & I wanted better than that for my child.
I had an abortion, it was horrible, I still feel guilty but I don't regret it as I know it was for the best given the situation I was in.
Luckily my ex went to prison shortly afterwards & I managed to get away from him.
Being a single mum at such a young age with no help from family etc is very difficult & a decision that shouldn't be taken lightly.
Imo.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.
