  • Babies only require "wealth" in terms of the society we have created for them.

It has no bearing on procreation as to a persons wealth, nor should it.

Babies don't need wealth but they need a home which the op doesn't have at the moment.

I have been a single mum in my 20's & not only is it financially draining it's emotionally draining.

I wish someone had told me how hard it would be & that having kids takes over your whole life to the point that you don't even have one anymore.

It's hard enough when you have a partner let alone when your single.

Sometimes you have to think what is best for the baby inside you not what would be best for you.

As I stated I had an abortion at 19 & it was the right decision for me & the child even though I would of loved that baby.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

  • Nobody has to justify anything to anybody but there's no harm in encouraging people to consider all option rather than to have a kneejerk reaction.

We could rewrite this post as "I am on my own, I have just lost my job and I am homeless. I am considering getting a puppy - what do you all think?"

It might be interesting to see how many people considered this to be irresponsible!

the puppy isn't already a life growing inside you.....

That is unsurprising. Carry on equating the right to procreate with the size of your bank balance then. No one really cares, tbph.

Ditto your sexism, just glad it was pointed out to you, that sexism is all what you had to offer this thread.

Of course everyone has a right to have a child, but whether they logically should or not is a different matter. Rights don't put dinner on the table or a roof over that child's head. Christ, you seem like the sort to have a child just to prove a point that you can.

Just because something is *hard* doesn't mean it shouldn't happen.

Perhaps her belief as to what is best for the baby inside her, differs from your belief. That's how it goes.
All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.

Ad homimen arguments, not only bore me to tears, they actually say more about you, than me.

She's already decided to have the child, it was not even raised as a question on here. She was asking about her financial position.

The vulgarity that came after, questioning why doesn't she abort (what could well be a much wanted pregnancy) is obscene.

And actually rights DO put food on the table. I suggest you fully update yourself with the UN declaration on Human Rights, before you continue with this meaningless nonsense.

In fact, to save you desperately searching:

    Article 25.
    • (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
    • (2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

  • Perhaps instead of arguing amongst yourselves, advice should be given to the OP on her questions she asked ?;)

Ironic, given your lack of advice in that post.

Has anyone else any Benefits advice for the OP, who has already decided she wishes to continue with the pregnancy ? I haven't as I do not know much about maternity Benefits, othe than any maintenance she receives from the father will be disregarded in applying for Benefits.

We have no right to question her choice . If there is 'a right to chose', then she has already chosen. It doesn't just mean the right to chose abortion. She has asked about Benefits advice only.
