I was under the impression that you had to have a bank account with them to get any of their products?
No, I think there is two savings accounts which non-customers can get, no credit check and it can only improve ones chances of being accepted for other products. We’ve had to remove your signature. Anyone know if my electoral roll information for my new name will be backdated to when I initially joined? It's the same council.
I emailed them and asked them to update it from X to Y. They replied saying they've "added Y". I see on my Equifax thing X has been deleted completely now (both the annual load for last year and the manual one when I joined). Y hasn't been added yet, but if it's starting from Nov that'll surely have a drastic effect?0 -
just ignore Star-Fire, he can be tackless and/or a little patronising.
You've done really well, and yes it's a £350 limit with Aqua! He's harmless really, he just needs to be put in his place every now and again. :rotfl:
Ive spent the last few days reading through the entire contents of this thread, inbetween doing things in the real world .... and I've seen many a rude reply from Star-Fire. This answers a question i raised previously as to why this thread has gone from being super-busy to dead.
People coming on to a SUB-PRIME thread, do not need to be be-littled by someone who thinks they are above them. If that is the attitude of some people then why on earth are they here ?
Surely the idea of the thread is a safe-haven where people can come to be honest about their finanical position without feeling embarrassed or that someone will think less of them just because they have had problems in the past !
If you honestly believe some of the remarks you have made on this thread Star-Fire, then why are you here ? If your credit is perfect and has always been perfect then are you just here to take the pi*s out of people who have struggled ? Seems like very odd behaviour to me
Anyway, when i first started reading through the sub-prime threads, there were a lot of helpful people on here who really just wanted to offer advice from a "been there, done that" point of view ... but it just seems that with all the b*tching and nastyness that has happened, people have left and its ruined the whole original concept
I would also like to point out - and i have mentioned this before somewhere - that not all of us have ruined our own credit records. I was happily married with a little boy when my husband decided to get himself a girlfriend, so after i threw him out my priorities were to keep a roof over my head and feed my little boy - and despite the fact it ruined my credit record, i still stand by my decision to not put up with a liar and a cheat, and to be a good mother to my son

I have to agree with Sam2009 to a certain extent, there are members here on this thread that enjoy nothing more looking down upon people and jumping on the moral soapbox, I can understand why some people could take StarFires comments in the wrong way but on the other hand I have also found them to provide useful answers to questions as well, sure sometimes there may be a comment thrown in that you dont want to hear but 9 times out of 10 I again have always found these comments to be truthful sometimes the truth hurts...................................
I also think Sam you delude yourself to a certain extent, sure you may be a victim of circumstance but you still have to take responsibility for your debts and the state of your credit record this is an important first step in getting control of the situation and moving forward sure your situation was a result of your husbands behaviour however your downfall was the same as the rest of use, you had more debt than you could comfortably afford for your own personal circumstances, whether you relied on your husbands wage to pay your debt or some other reason as soon as his money was no longer coming into your household it all felt to bits, so essentially you were guilty of having too much debt in YOUR name that YOU as an individual could afford to manage without being reliant upon someone elses wage.
Elky yet again another sensible comment from you completely spoiled by your opening line, not called for, completely irrelevant and TBH in complete bad taste
There is a broad spectrum of people on this thread, or rather there used to be sadly the people that comment most seem to be of a much younger generation with different morals and ethics, thinking the answer to all your problems is bankruptcy rather than working hard to repair the damage by paying what you owe in the first place, "most" of them find themselves in this situation due to sheer stupidity and greed and then expect tea and sypathy when the day comes and they cannot pay what they owe, it is called living beyond your means something I am sure a lot of people have been guilty of at some stage in their lives.
Then when they have "moved on" and are reparing their credit file they rund around making endless applications for anything to demonstrate that they are indeed leaving the sub prime part of their lives behind, they also put a LOT of completely nonsensical stigma upon getting a certain kind of internet based banking account as though it is the holy grail and you get a certificate with it to say you are now a decent member of the human race lmfao, these people are the ones that have not learnt anykind of lesson and at some stage in the future will find themselves back on the bankruptcy board completely shocked and amazed they find themselves back in the same position, of course they willl be full of excuses and it will be all somebody elses fault, the people I am referring to love to play the victim and love the thought of being a victim of circumstance rather than standing up and taking responsibility for their own stupidity
THen the cherry on the cake after chasing the "holy grail internet bank account" they apply and re-apply oh and re-apply only to be declined time after time lol but then for a couple of months it is irrelevant because they have a wallet full of small irrelevant plastic cards giving them access to a few hundred quid ehere and there, oh and of course overdrafts another "holy grail".
Sam you are right this thread in comparison from when it was started has really gone downhill, the decent contributors are long gone and it is now like a student common room where the only thing that gets discussed is who has the most plastic, the more bank accounts, the biggest overdraft oh and of course the "latest" tactics to obtaining the "holy grail" internet based bank account
Quite sad really it is the age we live in now "mine is bigger than yours" is all that seems to matter
Anyway Sam welcome to the "common room""You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

Oh jeeeeez i wasnt looking for tea and sympathy just merely trying to explain that due to a situation that was completely out of my control, i ended up with debts i could not afford to pay. I wasnt expecting anyone to be "extra nice" to me, but someone being so rude is really uncalled for.
They never answered any of my questions, just commented taking the p*ss - so why bother ? Do people really have that dull lives that being nasty on a forum is where they get their kicks ?UnderPressure wrote: »I have to agree with Sam2009 to a certain extent, there are members here on this thread that enjoy nothing more looking down upon people and jumping on the moral soapbox.
Exactly my point !UnderPressure wrote: »I also think Sam you delude yourself to a certain extent, sure you may be a victim of circumstance but you still have to take responsibility for your debts and the state of your credit record this is an important first step in getting control of the situation and moving forward sure your situation was a result of your husbands behaviour however your downfall was the same as the rest of use, you had more debt than you could comfortably afford for your own personal circumstances, whether you relied on your husbands wage to pay your debt or some other reason as soon as his money was no longer coming into your household it all felt to bits, so essentially you were guilty of having too much debt in YOUR name that YOU as an individual could afford to manage without being reliant upon someone elses wage.
Yes i do take responsiblity for my debts and have put every effort i can into digging myself out of this whole mess.
While i am guilty of relying on a two person income, who doesnt when there are two of you in a commited relationship ?UnderPressure wrote: »Sam you are right this thread in comparison from when it was started has really gone downhill, the decent contributors are long gone and it is now like a student common room where the only thing that gets discussed is who has the most plastic, the more bank accounts, the biggest overdraft oh and of course the "latest" tactics to obtaining the "holy grail" internet based bank account

If people who cannot add anything constructive refrained from posting then it wouldnt be an issue, would it ?
I dont post very often on this board because i do not have any answers to give, so rather than give false information i dont say anything. I certainly would never just post a rude and completely pointless comment though, just because i feel like it or because its the internet and i can.0 -

Blimey talking about making a song and dance over me just saying all you need now is a provident loan and you've hit the jackpot.
Right being serious now, I see you now have the aqua card have you tried these as they are almost in the same bracket.http://www.coutts.com/private-banking/banking-services/cards/coutts-world-card/0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:now now enough of the mocking
On a serious note I had one of these I sent them my certificate that first direct sent me to let them know I was a decent member of the human race, nice card not so sure about the exclusivity though have you seen some of the dodgy people they give these to???
I binned mine in the end could not cope with the APR and a measily £1mil limit
They did send me my certificate back with an endorsment though"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Aw that's nice. For the period that they had your certificate, you were not a "decent member of the human race". Must have not felt nice mixing with the other filth, "your people" as it were.
Was your certificate endorsed by the Teletubbies written in bright yellow crayons? Aw, it sounds like all of your christmases came at once.
:eek::eek::eek: Your absolutely right:eek::eek::eek:
I thought First Direct kept declining you?? WOW so you too are a decent member of the human race :T
All you have aspired to for so long has finally come true awwwwwwwwwww I bet your thrilled, so have you got your account welcome pack yet??
Do tell what colour is your card, is it embossed with gold leaf??? OOOOOOOO what about overdraft and credit card???? Oh yes now you have been accpeted dont want to leave it more than 48 hours before you apply for a personal loan :rotfl:
Congrats thats now 1 thing you can cross off your list for Santa this year"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
I have an acceptance from FD now and my certificate is on its way. Was your certificate actually issued by FD or Vanquis? I have a sneeky feeling you have just printed one from your computer using your cheapo inkjet printer bought with your shopping vouchers from Provident.
I'm sure you could put your time to better use than sitting here spouting sour grapes.. perhaps hang around a council estate with needles hanging out of your arms, you could wave your gold Vanquis around like you're royalty.
Ha ha ha now I think you are spying one me crikey you are soooooooooooooo accurate, your understnading of people is is outstanding
Vanquis did not send me a certificate I asked for one and they told me with my credit history I was lucky to have a card yet alone a certificate, they have promised me one in 2 years though funnily enough they did say it would embelished with gold leaf so I can then put this in a fram with the first direct one, the sky is the limit then Amex Black Card here I come
Not any council estates near where I live, sounds like you have some experience from your suggestion, have to say sounds like great fin though can you reccomend any?
Provvy would not give me any shopping vouchers I did ask for some and the laughed and said noSaid they would need to see my Vanquis certificate first so I hold a bit of optimism in 2 years I may be able to climb the credit ladder to the Provvy ooooooooooooooo cant wait
Do take a pic of you certificate from first direct when you get it I wonder who will sign yours if your really lucky it might be dipsy or lala who knows :T
Santa will be pleased"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0
