The Sub Prime Credit Thread - Part V

Ok so got turned down for capital one - is it worth appealing or is it just that their standards are higher than the other sub prime cards? I suppose will have to bite the bullet and go for vanquis now, although have already applied for granite which as far as I can work out is an offshoot. The major reason I need a card is to ensure that I always have some funds available for travel as I travel a lot in my role and my Key Account only has a full authorisation card not accepted at the petrol pumps which are unmanned. For a vulnerable woman this is not the best solution.
Any ideas from you wise souls would be welcome

I am trying not to sound to harsh but if capital one classic have turned you down you seriously have a dodgy credit report,as this card is up there with one of the easiest sub-prime cards to get.
IF you have to I would go for the vanquis as this card is the easiest card to obtain in the sub-prime league,if these turn you down just get pi*sed and call it a day on the credit applications for a while.
I know its a long shot but whats your equifax report like?0 -
Will have to check it but can't see there is anything on it any more than on Experian which just has the one default on from 2008, no IVA, no CCJs no bankruptcy or anything else. I have just moved house and am not appearing on the electoral roll at the moment though have all the utility bills to prove I live there (and the house was empty for 3 years before we bought it). All capital one would tell me was that I did not make their minimum credit score (whatever that is) despite being a homeowner in full time employment. But then credit isn't a right and patience is a virtue

Electoral roll is important, was just thinking don't know if you've tried the jjb or silver card from sygma as yet ,through different posts people have got these cards with bankruptcy on their file so do not know how a default would hold out, they do say on their criteria no defaults, ccj,or anything like that but people each day come on here with these but still gets accepted for one of the sygma range.
Might be worth giving them a try

Granite and Vanquis are one and the same. If you've applied for one, you won't be able to apply for the other - you'll be told you've made a recent application. If you get a decline, you have to wait 6 months to apply again for one of them.0 -
seeya is back after 6 weeks in hospital hell . what everyone been upto or applying for ???????0

Well last month I was accepted for a CapOne card with a £2k limit and this week I have been accepted for a new mobile contract with 3 (HTC Desire HD) and for a new bank account with Santander () Telephoned them yesterday and was told it came back from the underwriters, I was approved and I would be receiving an email soon.0

Hi seeya - hope you are feeling better now.
Havent been here in ages - I've been good and not applied for anything since I got my Vanquis card - in March  I took out mobile broadband with 3 t'other day - 24 month contract, £15 per month. BT are being worse than useless - first sign of bad weather and the dam broadband goes off so Im very much glad of it! Have a new phone (Sony Ericsson Xylo - loving it) but still on my old SIM-only contract. Should the compo situation for my accident work out I may get an I-Phone but happy with what I have for now.
Hope everyone ok

My Equifax credit rating is now actually really good. Only a few credit searches and loads of green 0's.
Experian still has about 20 searches overall, but I'm starting to get approved for much better deals.0
