So in theory i could start looking at less sub-prime stuff as mine are over 3 years ?

I guess i would need to figure out who only looks for 3 years then cause my file is squeeky clean for the last 3 years with plenty of green dots.

Not going to do anything now, but will give me something to think about for next year

The CCJ will hurt you till it drops off to be honest. Get your file in order so the moment that CCJ drops off you'll be looking crystal clean :)
  • yes that is what i am trying to do at the moment by opening up whatever accounts i can for the green dots and only having little balances :)

So far i have my natwest and lloyds basic accounts which are reporting to both credit reference agencies and my vanquis card.

Something I have only just thought of though - i waited over 10 months to get a limit increase from vanquis but nothing. I then reported my card lost and they appear to have closed my account and opened another one, according to the credit agencies as my previous one is showing as "settled" with a new account now appearing. A few weeks after my new card came, they text me to say they had increased my credit limit from £250 to £500.
  • I have started a thread about this on its own, but thought i would post here as i know a few of us have halifax accounts!

When i logged into my banking this am i got a banner stating 'pre approved, guaranteed acceptance if apply by x date'. I clicked to apply and got a message saying my application had been accepted with an approx limit will be £2800.

Now for the silly question! Does this mean i have deffo been accepted for the card? It just seems funny as 12 months ago they wouldnt give me a student account but now will give me close to 3k in credit cards at 0% for 15 months.... I hope it does all go through ok as it really would be a massive step for me adn bye bye sub prime too :) I wont hold my breath tho!

Do Cineworld unlimited cards show up on credit reports? I guess I wasn't credit checked for now as it accepted me at an address that isn't mine using my new name (when my bank cards haven't been changed yet - I'm surprised it went through!). But it says I'm in a binding agreement with them for 12 months etc - so I'd have thought they report that somewhere? And I'm assuming if they do show up it's the same effect as a mobile contract?

Isn't it supposed to be subject to a soft search, so you still could be declined? I'm sure someone else will confirm but I thought that was the case. It's supposed to pick out people it will decline and not choose them (hence why I never get anything!) but if they don't like something on your report they will still reject you?

I had a cineworld card and as far as i am aware it didnt show on my file at all. If it states legally binding etc then i assume it maybe like a gym memberships etc - doesnt show on the report but you have agreed to pay x amount for x months?

Re the halifax thing they have searched me at time of application and came back to say i have been accepted with a limit of approx £2800...I have just rung up now re the cc and queried balance transfares etc and was told i have been accepted with a limit of £2800 and i can do the BT once i get the card...still not convinced it will come through as they refused me a student account last September.. I expect only time will tell.

Well i proved this isnt a Guarenteed Acceptance as have been declined.

Gonna give the underwriter some hell on phone 2moro as i really cant see that their min of £500 is too much of a risk tbh.

kilasuit, was the offer on your online banking? Or did customer services on telephone banking tell you?

I did mine over the phone and she said no credit check will be done, but it seems if done via online (like brians daughter) they did 2 credit searches:eek:

So I am very confused the way they work and how their interpenetration of ''guaranteed '' means to them.

Guaranteed acceptance only means that as long as you comply with their lending criteria then you'll be accepted....but it is not by no means a full acceptance whatever your circumstances. It is just a marketing trick to attract potential customers to one of their product.....for many years I have had all sorts of "guaranteed acceptance" offers and many times was declined....

Go to apply for an overdraft and put in £9999 in the box, then apply and it will throw up an error saying if you want to apply for more than your guaranteed limit of £X go to a branch.

Was hoping mine would go up to over 2k! I'll never use the overdraft but I want a credit card from them! I'm assuming my internal score with them is rising even if my overdraft limit isn't? I've got a ridiculously high amount in there for my age (cheers Student Finance!) and keep moving some about by online banking - BACS so they may assume possible salary payments? Natwest did when the woman looked at my history for my student OD request

I used this method and checked both of my Halifax Reward accounts....I have an approved overdraft limit of £5k on each if I want to request it  Imagine the fees on that lot
