Anybody able to tell me if Capitol One phone up anytime in the application process. So far they've done everything by snail mail (they needed proof of address and ID, probably as our registration on the electoral role hadn't processed yet at our new address) and the last letter said they'd be in touch again within 7 days to finalize the application (so sort of sounded like I've been accepted), but my gf missed a call earlier and she tends to not always pick up on numbers she doesn't recognize as we're pestered by Indian scam calls and I'm away for work for the next week.

Google the number, it normally throws up what company it is with a bit of digging. Try splitting it into 2 after the first 5 numbers if you don't get anything first go.

As far as I know Capital One don't phone round by default like Vanquis, but I guess they may have done, for example if they had a quick query they only needed verbal confirmation of.

That's all I needed to know, didn't seem to me they were the phoning type as they could have just phoned me and asked to send the documents, will just hang tight and wait a week to see if that next letter arrives, hopefully with a pin code :)

Hi all, I cancelled my Aqua Card today. It was at £700 but 36% APR.

I found this quite amusing http://moneysavingexpertt.com/

My guaranteed OD limit with Halifax has stayed at £1,700 :( Is that normal? I've put a lot more money in the account (and left it there) so was certain it would go up!?

I now have a First Direct current account and a CitiBank current account

Although I do not consider myself to be sub-prime , I am not mainstream either and these are cherry-picker banks :D

There are several ways of applying for an account - online , by phone , post etc and my advice is not to be a sheep - be an individual instead (there is a pattern to the unsuccessful attempts and I was declined on my first attempt)

Turning to the question of whether HSBC behaviour score can be taken into account , posters have expressed their opinion

My opinion is that is can be taken into account , but the information would already be in the possession of First Direct for that to happen and they are only a "branch of HSBC" after all

A bit like Clydesdale Bank with its ordinary branches in Scotland and its high net worth branches in England

Since RBS/NatWest has its AVU , I suspect that a First Direct bod reviews accounts to turf out applicants who pass the score but would lower the tone of the bank , my HSBC branch is just down the road from First Direct's HQ - so the bod who reviewed my application may have connections with my branch

Where does it tell you the guaranteed OD limit?

Go to apply for an overdraft and put in £9999 in the box, then apply and it will throw up an error saying if you want to apply for more than your guaranteed limit of £X go to a branch.

Was hoping mine would go up to over 2k! I'll never use the overdraft but I want a credit card from them! I'm assuming my internal score with them is rising even if my overdraft limit isn't? I've got a ridiculously high amount in there for my age (cheers Student Finance!) and keep moving some about by online banking - BACS so they may assume possible salary payments? Natwest did when the woman looked at my history for my student OD request

It doesn't matter what the OD limit is.. you'd be crazy to pay them £1 a day for the privledge of using it. Anyway, I think my OD limit was like £500 when I was accepted for a credit card from them so the limit isn't always a sign that your internal score is going up. The highest my limit ever went was £3700 and that was sometime after I got my credit card.
