Haha! How'd you guess? Just trying to think of a cheesy phrase to coin from Red Alert 2 now but it's been so long I can't remember...

Born and bread in England tho.

Barclaycard are alright why not just keep that?

I suppose Egg might be an alternative if you want two cards; although with Citi going the way of the dinosaur what else is there? Halifax?

On so many threads these days people are complaining that the big lenders such as mbna, halifax, santander, etc are shooting their credit apr up as much as 10% higher, do you honestly think sygma customers will get this dreaded letter in the post in the near future.

One at a time? That'll take forever! :rotfl:

    I just did this..

http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/4935/photoua.jpg (you'll see that the chips on the credit cards are more worn than the debit cards :rotfl:).

Scotland sucks, has always sucked and will always suck. I'm off the Toyota idea now. My parents are coming in to some money and they so generously want to buy me a Landrover so I'll see how that turns out.

lol, you should move. Well considering you have that 1 billion overdraft, you should use some of that and get a Ferrari too lol :rotfl:

    Stupid HSBC...

Credit checked me for my current account application on the 17th... Called me on the 19th to say "By the way sir, we've approved you for a #1,500 credit card at 19.9% APR. Would you like it?"...

Said yes, letter arrived couple of days later saying "Thank you for your application which has been approved, please sign and return this credit agreement and your card will be with you in 5-7 working days"... had the APR and Limit confirm on the credit agreement.

So that was returned and I get a message on my online banking secure messages to say thanks for your credit card application, we've declined it based on CRA data...

So I got a copy of my CC, EQ, EX files - none of them show a search - only the one done on the 17th for a current account - so they obviously were referring to this data. The same data they had to hand when they called me and wrote to me to say I had been approved...

*Sigh*... Ah well. Don't really want or need another credit card anyway but wish they'd not written to me and called my lying :(

I never even applied for it anyway, they called and wrote to me offering it to me confirming I'd been approved. Whatever. :undecided

I'd be on the phone in a right huff!! Go into branch, they're so much better and as NID said, they can override decisions there too!!

Nah I'm cool without another Sygma card TBH.

Neither need nor want another credit card; it was bad enough calling Sygma to close my Silver and My World accounts only to hear racial abuse from the agents in the background against my motherland not going to resbject myself to that :p

Just wish HSBC hadn't lied to me both verbally and in writing is all. Am definitely raising complaint about it as I hold in my hand a letter stating

Me no like being lieded to. Had enough of that from LTSB...

HSBC gave me a current account when I had defaults on my credit file however I had to wait until my defaults fell off before they gave me a overdraft and credit card.

They may have turn you down because they saw that you previously been bankrupt so I think that they are unlikely to give you their credit card until your credit files are clear. At least you have their current account and can get away from lloyds Tsb.

I used to reside in England for some years before coming back to Scotland for an education. We don't need to pay tuition fees so I've saved thousands by studying in Scotland. I hope to buy a house in England once I've graduated. :D

Yeahman tell me about it! I was shocked to say the least when they said I'd been approved for a credit card. And you're right; I wasn't expecting it until the Defaults and BR fell off so in the greater scheme of things; what narks me off is they knew full well that I had previously been bankrupt when they offered me the card in the first place - the offer was based on the credit searches they did when I applied for the current account!!

Still, I can thank my lucky stars that I got away with a grand overdraft and cheque guarantee card :D

Just wish they hadn't lied to me about being approved for a credit card.

    Letter from FD states..

"Unfortunately you were unsucessful in obtaining an account as your details did not meet our account opening criteria. Regrettably, your request was declined because it did not achieve the required credit score. We also approached a CRA called Experian and I can confirm that no adverse information was held against you by this agency."
