Annoyed! Trolleys and Supermarket Car Park

Not only is it believable, I've seen it done. Van driver did it to some little French "supermini" thing and the driver just got out and walked off. We decided to tell him since he clearly hadn't noticed and he said he would leave a note. We checked and the note was blank, so left another one for the driver.
At it happens when we'd finished shopping we noticed that the driver of the injured car taking them off and throwing them away unread, so told her that her car had been damaged and did she need a witness for insurance purposes, she thanked us but did not care as "it's only a car".0 -
I scraped someones car a few months back, very minor but still and went into the shop and had an announcement put out for them, i left a card with the car owner and left it at that asking him to call me with costs etc..he never did not sure why but i would never dream of leaving a blank note or just going without saying something.0

I've always kept a "spare" car on the go in addition to our two nice cars. We're both dependent on our cars so the spare is necessary if one breaks down or is in for a service etc.
The spare is usually some old banger estate car. Volvo 940, VW Passat etc. etc.
It goes out once a week for the Tesco run specifically to keep damage off the good cars, you can park it right by the main entrance and not have to worry. The 940 is particularly good for this because it's so solid that the other person bears the brunt of the damage if they drive into it.
So nice not to have to worry about coming back to a ruined car.0 -

I have a nightmare with my 18 year old car which, apart from the carpark dents and stone chips (damn gritters) is in immaculate condition. Yet I find people tend to think 'oh it's only an old banger' and subject it to abuse.
I had someone throw their door open and hit it with me in the car, damaging the paint. When I got out of the car to address them, they denied it had happened. I was so tempted to return the favour to their car once they'd gone into the supermarket but I didn't.
I have also found people putting their bags on my car's boot when loading up their car! !!!!!! have some respect. I make an effort to look after my car and keep it in good condition, I can't stand it when others casually cause damage. They need to be aware that, with a car of this age, very minor damage is enough to make it an insurance write-off.0 -
Hadn't thought that new cars might be hire cars. Who would hire a brand new car to go to Tesco in?
I can't tell if they're hire cars but I can spot the stupid drivers. They helpfully put two small white flags with red crosses on each side of the car to warn me.
it was a genuine question re hire cars, just because its a new car it doesnt mean its a hire car does it0 -

Sad thing is the way insurance, the legal system, and people's attitudes are - either you put up with the damage and accept it, or continually fund repairing the damage out of your own pocket - with the option of some payback on their cars if you're vindictive enough.0 -
