I could park in disabled (Have a blue badge) but if im at work, i try not to as i dont want to take the space for hours (well only work 4 hrs a day) from shoppers and other disabled people who may need them more.
I try to park on the ends, not too far away tho as i cant walk too far but there wasnt any the other day so just parked where there wasnt any cars either side (at the time anyway)
    Make £10 a day Challenge June - £170

As usual the thread has gone right off topic regarding the poor op's car that was parked and scratched to the selfish people who think it ok to park in parent and child spaces or some even disabled??

Today i went to morrisons with my brother, there were 3 child spaces and with twins and a toddler in the back i was well within my rights to use it but seeing a space near by i thought i would use that instead as someone with a baby may need it. I got out ok and left and returned fine. It wouldn't have mattered if there was a Ferrari or a Lada next to me each car would have got the same treatment and that is not damaging it.

On the subject of babies, baby seats are one of the things I check for before deciding whether it's safe to park next to that vehicle (other things being whether or not it's an enormous 4x4 and the general state of the vehicle). How long I intend to be there also weighs into the equation.

Those ridiculous 'child' spaces are just the thing for parking my motor - plenty of room to get out without any danger of scratches to my gleaming paintwork :)

did you miss all the signs saying "owners park here at their own risk?". the supermarket is not responsible for the damage.

Those signs mean nothing in law and are not enforceable.

If there was a sign saying "Murder is allowed in this car park" or "Heroin may be sold here between 5pm and 6pm" would that make either act legal?....No, and the same applies to the no liability signs.
If the supermarket was negligent then they are responsible.

of course the bind is proving the negligence of the supermarket, witnesses would help obviously, but you can infer negligence in that a stack of trollies hit your car, so where were the attendents that should collect the trollies did the supermarket employees act with suitable professionalism in collecting abandoned trollies? Did the attendents leave the stack of trollies before they rolled into your car or was it other cutomers?

but as said before it would be a hard case to win if youcannot prove negligence by th esupermarket.

Do you normally scratch your own (and other) cars when getting out if there arnt any child spaces? :)

Again until you have small children and have to try and manoeuvre a door in a very small normal space and get a child out you will never understand..yet with that attitude i wouldn't worry about any women finding you a catch!! (assuming you are a man?!)

So how did people manage for all the years before these spaces started appearing?

And I'm happily shacked up thank you :)
