:hello: mortgage_girl and wow that you've read my entire thread, not sure how much of use there is in it to others but I know rambling on here keeps me focused! How are you finding your diary - is it helping?

:hello: too to CathT and earthgirl - the tablets I only take when I have a migraine, I don't want to go on preventative ones after the last time (very long story). So I will put up with the dizziness, if they help clear the migraine and make sure I don't get them back to back like the other week. And thanks for the compliment about the bargains, feel like money is flying out the window at the minute, but we are making sure everything we spend is justified, and the best value we can get (not however always the cheapest :o, but I do think there is some truth in the adage buy cheap buy twice)

Well, what do you buy as a birthday present for the man who has everything - and earns 5 times as much as you? Answer - you make some homemade caramel cupcakes ;), and take a bottle of cava. A good day with some lovely food and fun trying out a kinect for the first time. Our living room is definitely too small for it, thank goodness :rotfl:. Good fun though. The cupcakes went down well too and I used my icing set I got from OH for Xmas for the first time. Only 24 more to make for cake club this week .

The final weekly shop came to £80 , but we did buy 4 bottles of vintage cava half price at Mr T, a basics brandy for hm cocktails, and enough sugar to sink a ship, as well as all the bits yesterday. OH currently making chilli, mmmm.

Have come home and done an hour of Cindy :j (I think that jump was one of the moves!), so feeling virtuous.

Haven't quite kept up with my weekly reviews, but am pleased to say I have exercised 3 x this week, have phoned a few friends, taken things to charity (although haven't actually tackled a new area for decluttering :o, maybe I can find somewhere now), sent off last bits for mortgage, claimed 2 x tfl late trains, gone out for dinner twice, brunch once, ordered blinds for loft, bought bed for £40, ordered good value mattress and worked very hard on my AMA :D.

Tonight we will watch our free download from lovefilm and then collapse!

Also have my eye on a Tom Ford pair of glasses :o.

  • If you're a glasses wearer smlSave it is probably a good thing you've not heard of the brand - vintage looking styles, minimal branding, but a slightly hefty pricetag...

Just come back from a 1 and a 1/2 hour yoga class near me, first time I've tried it. It is drop in and a donation - I thought £5 was a fair amount to give. A fairly large class at about 14, but I enjoyed the stretch and would definitely use it again. Pasta sauce from freezer and fresh pasta when OH gets back from picking up DD from badgers.

Valentines in the cheapskate MFW house: OH gave me a hm pop-up valentines card this morning, I left some Hope & Greenwood Love me True bons bons on his pillow - he wouldn't wear the accompanying badge to work though :rotfl:!

  • Hey museumworker - loving your thrifty valentines day treats - though I do think you should have insisted that your OH wear his badge to work :)

Yes i'm definately finding that my diary is helping me to focus, although it has only been a week or so since I started it so I need to make sure that I keep focussed. I have found that it's made me take a tougher look at my budget and see where I can make savings so i'm hoping to increase my overpayments by £50 per month in the next few months.

Haha - yeah I read your whole thread but i'm not a stalker, honest :D I was off work with the flu for a week and needed something to keep me sane so spent a lot of time here on the forums.

Hope you get your migraines sorted.

  • Crap day.

DD cried about school all the way there and I ended up breaking down in tears in front of all the staff at breakfast club.

Just bought tickets for the green man festival - as did OH for not only us but two friends who have already got theirs. Now lost £30 in booking fees :(.

  • Hi Museumworker, i also have had days of leaving DD at breakfast club and having to deal with her crying. I felt absolutely awful and i also cried in front of the school staff and the whole way to work.
In a way it makes me more determind to get this mortgage paid off or at least at a level where i could afford to reduce my hours at work. Hope your feeling better

Aw, hugs to you :grouphug: I've been there - and cried countless times in front of nursery staff too. It's sadly all part of the guilt of the working mother.
My DH does the drop offs now, so he has to deal with the morning tears and is a bit harder than me. I collect them everyday, but then feel guilty that I have to leave home early on a morning (sometimes while they're asleep :() in order to leave work early to collect them :o

It's difficult, but you are setting her a great example - plus it *is* a great motivator to get that mortgage paid off so you can spend more time together. Chin up :)

Hi MW sorry that you have had a crap day, it is so overwhelming when more than one thing goes wrong. Reading trough your posts since Christmas one big thing occurs to me, when did you last have a holiday? a genuine break from working routine. To be honest it sounds like you need one! Half term next week so with a bit of luck you will all get a break.
  • Very well said Macgirl :T

I remember those days when my son was little, it really can play on your mind all day, but most often they stop crying within minutes of you leaving them. He is now 15...and it all feels like a lifetime away...
