  • I'm fed up of big projects too chamichelle! Living/dining room colour sounds lovely. We have a richer colour in our living room, makes it feel cosy on these winter evenings!

Hello to you both tyo and rach. When do you think the decorating will start tyo?

DD is saying she doesn't want to go to chinatown today, she wants to practice her swimming . I'd much rather go to chinatown than get in a pool today - will see if I can talk her into it (or bribe her into it, it is near the sweet shop I've promised to take her to ;). Plus we want to go to habitat in town today anyway.

Went to small independent carpet shop yesterday in a little shopping parade in the middle of nowhere and they had our carpet :j which means we can match it. Having it measured next Saturday. The downside is that it is £28 a metre , however we love the carpet and it matches the bedrooms that we laid down 2 years ago. It is a mid cream wool berber with a really nice twist, 100% virgin wool. The place does free fitting, so will await the quote with baited breath... have £1800 set aside for it in our savings.

Did about 1 1/2 hours of cleaning in the living room, there is about the same left to get it totally clean. It really is filthy after all the works.

DD had a great playdate with friend, and I really enjoyed catching up with the mum, I think she is a fantastic woman. Watched our lovefilm Vicky Cristina Barcelona when we got in - which was rubbish!

Looked into blinds for the velux - £180 for the two from velux , but 5 mins research later found that 247 blinds do the same branded ones for £111 plus 8% cashback - saving over £75 :D. However can't decide on colour - OH wants white as the windows sit in a brilliant white ceiling. I think white will get grubby and look cheap so am thinking light beige - which OH doesn't think will go with anything. The room is green at the moment but we will probably redecorate in about 3-4 years when DD moves up there and I'd rather not have to replace them. Any opinions here?

The house sounds lovely MW, I hope you do post some piccies. I like looking at people's houses on the Living etc forums.

I love F&B colours too, but find the paint too thin, so think I'll get it colour matched.

As for Velux blinds - well they get dusty no matter what colour, but I personally would get white. In our old house my DH worked in the attic, so he bought a dark blue blind (which I hated). You could get a roller type blind instead?

    Have a good weekend :)

I'd go for taupe or pale grey - dark enough to be a definite colour but still pale and will go with anything.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Think I just committed Amazon suicide - I changed my email recently and updated my seller account to receive notifications - none came through. Checking old email just found that I sold something 4 days ago and is now overdue! Emailed seller with my apologies. Now I can't find the blinking item!!! Just spent 45 mins turning house upside down. Have cancelled order ! Has this ever happened to anyone? And what should I do - email buyer to explain, or just leave it now?

Have just emailed amazon to check that they have updated my preferences properly.

    :eek::eek::eek:

  • Eeek on amazon mw- what a shame!! Not happened to me but to be honest Im sure if someone emailed me and it was a genuine mistake Id see past it ... dont worry too much! I might email buyer to explain and apologise but not really sure on amazon etiquette tbh!
Things on the house front sound like they are going well- I think we will start decorating april/may time...once I get a definite date from tennants- must check /finalise that this week! will be on the lookout for tips for moneysaving decorating....!
  • I wouldn't worry too much hon. I had something christmas 2009 and i was so busy i didn't notice it has sold for over a week. I still had the item, but it was really obvious that someone had wanted it as a christmas present and i felt completely awful.

I emailed the buyer and got no reply, and in the end amazon cancelled the order.

I didn't get any comeback whatsoever, no negative feedback or anything, not blacklisted. It is just one of those things.

If anything i was harder on myself because i felt so silly and annoyed, and i still have the item now on my inventory so it is not likely to sell again.

Try not to worry too much, am sure the buyer will understand. Hope you find the item too!

I have emailed the buyer, and put my listings on holiday until I have time to audit my inventory. I feel like I have so much on at the minute, and a break from the selling will at least give me some headspace and avoid any more embarrassments/potential book selling career ending moments! I am just praying I do not get bad feedback, but who knows.

Had training day in York yesterday which was good for AMA, but am knackered after all the travelling. Work is really, really busy at the minute, am up to my eyes until I go on leave next week so am going to have to bring stuff back with me the next few weeks. Exercise is also out of the window :o, although I have already spoken to a few friends on the phone this week, so at least that is one resolution done! Apologies for not keeping up with people's diaries, I hope you are all well.

OH and I have performed another furnishing u turn on the loft, and have bought a wooden double bed frame we really like from ebay for £51.11 :j! I went through tcb to try and get 40% of the fees, I hope it works! We will collect on the weekend. We had thought about a decent futon, but this would have been a more expensive option, and was unlikely we could have reused it in the house once DD moves up there.

Just looking at cheap mattresses on tesco direct - can anyone recommend one? I don't really want to spend more than £150 as we will more than likely freecycle it after about 2-3 years, and will be for occasional use. However, I am quite picky about my mattresses (my own one is a vi-spring ;)) and I don't want a horrible cheap one where you can feel the springs. They have 20% off until next Tuesday so would like to order before then.

Just had row with OH about putting out the laundry :( and the work I brought home I can't get the laptop to open :(:(.

On the plus side, I got a £2.90 cheque from tfl yesterday, can't wait until I can start putting all these towards my mortgage! Sent off the last remaining bits to FD today, so just need to cross my fingers and wait.

That was a long journey up to York for you, i bet you're shattered. I usually forget to go through TCB for ebay but have had money track and payout when i have remembered!

No advice about the mattress sorry, am sure someone else will though!

Oooh, I have a mattress in mind but have to wait for OH to come home so we can order it! Major deal alert! Will tell all once its ordered.

Had a schwim, found 52p on way to/from swimming :D, and lovely text from friend who really appreciated the Body Shop set I sent her (remember the bogof on sale items a few weeks ago?)

Have more work to do on AMA tonight, a dinner to cook now, and one for the slow cooker for tomorrow! Plus must dry mine and DDs hair, and give her some tea too! Really hoping I have time to catch up on diaries properly soon!
