    Went for this http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-8129.aspx, a Silentnight Miracoil 3-Zone Pillowtop Honolulu Mattress, Double with a discount we paid £141 including delivery! :j:j (was £390 + delivery originally).

    Have done an hour and a bit on AMA, am going to call it quits and go to bed now. Everything else got done too, slow cooker food ready to pull out of the fridge tomorrow morning - is sticky orange and sesame chinese chicken. Hope its good!

    That's a great buy. Sticky orange and sesame chinese chicken sounds yummy.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • The chicken turned out quite well, I did have a bit too much liquid but that gave a bit of flavour to the rice anyway. We managed to find our timer so that the slow cooker came on at 12, rather than having to switch it on at 7.30 when we leave the house - meant the chicken is still attached to the bone and not overcooked :D.

    Got my 24 boxes of brownie mix today from Tefal :j:j:j, had almost given up on it! Now have massive box of chocolate brownie mix, and have given up chocolate :rotfl: go figure!

    Spent £2.38 from pocket money on 2 burt bees wax lip balms from Holland and Barrett - there is a thread on the grabbit board for those who fancy a cheap treat!

    And downloaded a free app called Astrid tasks from the Android store the other day, really has helped me focus on getting stuff done. What with all the migraines I've got behind quite a lot in January, and was beginning to feel v stressed and overwhelmed by how much there is to do. This not only tracks all your to dos, and gives you reminders, but also has motivational little messages like 'why not have a snack when you're done' and 'you'll feel so much better when you've done it'. I'm sure after time Astrid will annoy me intensely, but at the moment I'm enjoying it, and I definitely feel like I'm getting back on top of things (well, heading in the right direction rather than in control!)

    Hi MW, sounds like you are getting there with the loft extension. I hope the pain killers are working for the migraines. I have nipped back to London for a meeting and am going back tonight. I will definitely post pictures!

    Hi toots, glad you are in now and are liking the hallway colour after all! Day 9 in the migraine free house! Don't really like the new tablets, they make me really dizzy so have to lie down anyway. But they do seem to clear it.

    Went out last night with friend and OH, ended up spending £50 on drinks and a meal out :eek: :o, that was from house money and essentially for all 3 of us, but even still feels like quite a lot. A cheaper day today, just popping round friend's new house later with a bottle of something, so will catch up there. OH is off to collect the ebay bed frame, another £50 there, and we have had the carpets measured. Our first quote came back as £1400, so that is the most we will pay, as we will use second quote to barter if it is lower. OH is planning to gloss the hallway today.

    Today I will:
    * [STRIKE]do meal plan[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]wait in til OH gets back for our M&S wine delivery[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]go food shopping[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]take stuff to charity[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]take library books back and renew the one I'm keepin[/STRIKE]g
    * [STRIKE]exercise[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]2 x washloads[/STRIKE]
    * make caramel sauce for cupcakes
    * put laundry away
    * [STRIKE]call brother back[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]out tonight[/STRIKE]

  • Mw you are making me hungry with all this talk of caramel sauce, cupcakes and brownies!!! stop it!! ;) :rotfl: (ps if youd like me to take the chocolate brownie mix off your hands Ill enclose a large SAE!)
    Good news on the migraines tho not on the dizziness :( is it a side effect that should pass and does it go away fairly quickly once youve had a lie down? I have realised in the past yr how much I took my health for granted before...
    Sounds like a nice weekend - £50 on meal out for 3 not too bad at all I think! I am finding that as long as I dont feel Im spending mindlessly and Im getting a bargain thats what makes me feel good!
    have a good weekend x

    Sorry tyo :o, I will try and reduce the sugary treats chat! OH and DD are so excited about the prospect of a years worth of brownies without me having any that I think they would lynch me if I tried to send you some :rotfl:! Health is one of those things you don't notice until its gone, in general. The meal wasn't too expensive (that included 2 rounds in pub before as well) but I just feel like we have a lot of outgoings at the minute.

    OH went to pick up bed, it was not quite as good condition as described so lady offered to give it to us for £40 instead ;) a saving there. Its a nice enough frame, a little bit worn around the edges and a slightly orangey varnish. But I think once dressed properly it will look fine, and OH is thinking about sanding it down and restaining it in the summer. And for £40, a total bargain, it is a very solid bedstead. You'll see it when I take the photos.

    Wine came from M&S, looks brilliant, can't believe it was £2.50 a bottle!

    £40 food shop, but another £10 or so to go, plus a bottle of cava or two as gifts. My trolley was so full I had to give up buying any more! Also picked up brand new M&S cardi for DD still with tags for £2, she will love it. OH doing a great job of glossing the new staircase :D.

    Blinds are ordered now, £111.92 :eek:, but still £70 odd cheaper than buying direct from velux, and will get 8.8% cashback through tcb. Went for light beige in the end ;) hope the colour works with the rest of the decoration in the room!

    Am going to try and trick myself into exercise now. ETA: did it! 40 mins of Fitness Ball workouts.

    Sorry to hear the tablets don't seem to be agreeing with you. Looking forward to your pics of the loft, sounds like it is coming on a treat.
