    Ok - sounds as though it is not a common thing though. I have never heard of it before.

    But, think if it is worst case scenario, if that was the cause of your migraines and other symptoms and you could change it through changing your diet, you could solve all the problems?

    Is it basically that you have to avoid things like bread, alcohol and anything like fruit which could ferment? So a really strict diet.

    Sorry it has upset you so much. I think it will be a hard one. Keep posting though and we'll talk you through it while you are getting your thoughts together.

    Thanks michelle, I don't feel able to talk to people about it at work yet, though they could all tell there was something up. Yes, a very strict diet, no alcohol, sugar, fruit, carbs, dairy... I have no blinking idea what I AM supposed to eat.

    Bought the treatment, cheaper to just pay for it than the 2 prescription charges it worked out as (£12).

    On cheerier news have received mortgage offer and the legal paperwork through for remortgage. Feels like a long drawn out process remortgaging, this is the first time I have been through it!

    Time to take DD swimming, I'm going to stay out of the pool and read my trashy Marian Keyes book.

    MW,

    My DH got diagnosed with diabetes as an adult of 30-something (which is quite unusual). We've changed our diet and lifestyle - you will adapt and feel better for it (if you need to) and lots of the eating will become the new normal after a time.

    Good luck with the Dr.

  • Hey mw
    yay on the FD stuff!! :D good news...

    Sorry to hear about the health stuff and that you are feeling low- Im not surprised the idea of a restricted diet feels difficult and limiting right now, especially not having an idea of 1) what it is and 2) what you need to adapt to

    having had 2 chronic health conditions diagnosed in the last 4 years- once which has involved heavily adapting/restricting diet at times, I can empathise with how frustrating it can feel to be faced with the idea of such restrictions- but Id suggest as much as you can, finding out what the Dr says and then go from there- I actually met someone a few years back (when I was really suffering myself too) who had candida and had been incredibly unwell with it BUT had literally turned things round with diet- anecdotally it seemed like a great sucess story from her tho everyone is different and I dont wanna give health advice! I do know she worked with a nutritionis/naturopath which may well be an option for you if this is the way forward...

    easier said than done to try not to worry but like katsu said, these things soon become second nature and there is a reward element of feeling much better so it isnt all about deprivation!

    hugs if ya need :)

    Hi MW, sorry to hear that you're feeling low :( I don't know much about Candida, but my sister used to get recurring bouts of Thrush and always swears by Acidophilus (sp) which is found in pro-biotic yogurts aswell as in tablet form. Apparently, it balances the flora in your good - replacing the good bacteria.

    I have done this kind of exclusion diet a couple of times and although it is tough at first, after a few days to a week, you will start to feel better than you have in years. Although there are lots of things you can't eat, there are far more that you can! :)

    Again, I don't want to give health advice, but it sounds like you can eat fruit and veg, fish? nuts, beans and grains. Plenty of interesting and yummy foods can be made from them, so don't lose heart. It might be a turning point for your migraines too! Keep us posted and take care x

    katsu - is your husband managing his diabetes now just through diet? Food is a very powerful thing.

    tyo, you wouldn't happen to know where I might find a good cheap nutritionist, or nutrition course in London? I'm sure you recommended the acupuncture college to me and it was so good to be able to try that at an affordable price.

    macgirl - I am taking those friendly bacteria however you spell that word at the minute, in capsule form. Sometimes the yoghurts and drinks can contain a lot of sugar, which encourages candida growth. I think the diet will definitely help, just gearing myself up for it mentally. Having recently given up caffeine, red wine, citrus fruits, cheese and chocolate, I am already feeling like I'm missing out a bit! It is definitely no fruit, fruit juices or dried fruit on the anti-candida diet though :( I love my fruit!

    A better day today, starting to feel a bit more positive, probably because I have tomorrow off! Have hoovered the two rooms which are to be carpeted so there are no nails or anything under our new carpet, which is being fitted tomorrow :j! I know it will transform the place. Just need to hoover the new stairs, and then remove carpet from old stairs.

    The new hoover btw seems very good, much better than our old one. Quiet (although the way everyone spoke about it I thought it would be mute!), very strong - doesn't sit on stairs though. I think OH still wishes we'd forked out the extra £100 for a dyson. I'm happy with it and we've used it now :rotfl:.

    £730 to savings this month, includes £20 tcb. Not as large as usual as awaiting a refund for those extra festival tickets, plus all the extra spends we have at the minute.

    Had a friend unexpectedly stay last night, so he witnessed our mortgage documents at 7.15 this morning, still in his sleeping bag :rotfl:! All of the paperwork has now been sent off :D. However still can't book valuation, spoke to valuators today and they said they hadn't had confirmation from FD - just spoken to FD and they said they told them yesterday morning on the phone! :mad:. Another call will be made tomorrow. Why is it up to me as the customer to sort this all out - if I'd left it it could have been days or even weeks waiting for the valuators to realise they already had the information they need!

    Almost a NSD, just spent 45p on milk. And 25p on onepoll. Heating on full whack though :o, it is blinking bitter in London.

    I wasn't impressed at having to de-ice my car this morning - roll on spring!

    Sounds like your FD experience is a little bit complicated which is a shame - hopefully they'll get the valuation done soon though.

    Thanks for the initial review on the hoover - I think I'm going to try and make ours live on as long as possible, but there are only so many times that I can remove the hose and stick a broomhandle down it to unblock it.

    I hope that the new strict diet helps you and makes you feel better :)

    The start of deep clean weekend _pale_ - not pretty, but has to be done!

    The carpet is now fitted and the mattress has arrived :j! I am extremely happy with both. Expect photos very soon!

    We hid in the living room and went through our bookshelves together, we have sent over [STRIKE]70[/STRIKE] 90 books and dvds to charity - done one load already, one more to go! The shelves have been washed down and now they are looking lovely and spacious with less stuff on them :D. We also found another [STRIKE]10[/STRIKE]20 or so items worth selling, worth over £200 :D - these will go on once I have audited my amazon stock, essential after the last sale disaster :o.

    The sun is shining, so I have done 2 loads of sofa covers with my new mystery laundry freebie, and they have come out very well! They are on the line drying, I have run out of space on the line now but still have 2 more loads to do - may move our drying rack outside too!

    OH is now working on sorting out the office where the new window went - sanding down the wall, priming and glossing woodwork etc. Once that is done we can work on getting out the junk and having our lovely office set up again :D. I'm going to get another load on and take the final trolley load of books to charity.

    Had trip to IKEA last night, needed to buy some lampshades for the hall, and for the new rooms. The two new loft rooms have recessed spotlights which I am convinced burn electricity at 50W each, so thought by putting in a few lamps with energy saving bulbs, would make it more cost effective, plus give a soft light. £80 later :eek: we now have lampshades! We did get 2x wall mounted spot lights for above the new bed, 2 pleated lampshades for the hall, one paper lampshade for the living room (the third hall light we moved the shade from the living room to the hall), and a bedside lamp for DD so she can read before bed in a darker room. All apart from the spot lights were between £5 and £10 so don't see how we could have done it any cheaper! Also included 2 multi-sockets, door hooks and the obligatory napkins!

    We had a sleepover in the new room - the mattress is extremely comfy, is giving my vi-spring a run for its money!

    Today's plans:
    * [STRIKE]take old carpet to tip[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]return to IKEA and buy wardrobes for craft room[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]book for them to be delivered tomorrow (WAY cheaper than booking a van)[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]also get standing lamps x 2 and roller blind for loft bedroom[/STRIKE] think we only need 1 lamp now, which we got, saving £20. Am going to get a beige roller from john lewis
    * [STRIKE]go to carpet shop and pay for carpet[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]pick lino for kitchen and book for it to be installed[/STRIKE] convinced OH to wait for an offcut large enough to come in - will save £40 that way and it is only a short term fix
    * buy bulb for loft to replace one OH broke :o and doorstops to avoid paintwork getting damaged due to doors being flung open! not done
    * [STRIKE]OH decorating[/STRIKE] He is an :A
    * Declutter living room and finish deepclean not touched it, too many books on the floor waiting for the office to be sorted
    * [STRIKE]Start deep clean of bedroom[/STRIKE] started....
    * [STRIKE]list 2 old hoovers on freecycle[/STRIKE] and one vintage mirror
    * out pm for food and drinks at friend's house (will take wine from our M&S box, so a free night!)

    I think it is going to be a spendy day, have transferred money from savings so we can get through! Have a good day anyone reading (and try not to spend as much as me, won't be hard!)

  • Hey mw
    for what its worth that sounds like a very controlled trip to ikea!! :rotfl: I have to say I have only ever been to ikea once- even tho its only about 30 mins from us! and though I loved looking through the pretty displays - the whole going through the warehouse palava put me off! so i may well be safe from its lures....
    sounds like a busy decorating weekend for you guys- hope you get some rest in between that!
    Dont know any nutritionists in london specifically.... I did a quick google and there is somewhere called "the london clinic" which takes gp referals- not sure which part of london tho, at a quick glance looks like Kings and Imperial may do nutrition courses so could look at thier websites- for me I was refered by my GP , a lot of GPs now have a dietician/nutritionist linked to the practice and if not may be able to recommend reputable practitioners in the local area...hope youre feeling a bit better today...
    enjoy your busy weekend!
