    Cheers everyone!

Had a good day yesterday, OH got over 4 hours at the allotment whilst DD and I took another trolley load of books to charity, and did the weekly shop. £25 spent :D, we are running down our freezer supplies and having a few cheap eats. Did buy 3 new items for wardrobe, one whistles flowery dress, one M&S black and white wrap dress and one zara light pink linen boyfriend cardigan. Total spent £9.97, need to add to clothes challenge. Friends had us over for an early dinner, lovely food and great to catch up. I also got given a pair of red slingbacks my friend had bought did never worn. Watched our lovefilm last night, Milk, which we enjoyed.

Today am going to get a slow cooker meal on, then out for the day to London Transport museum open depot, £10 each for the adults but free for kids. OH is going to make a packed lunch. Are taking DD's friend which she is v excited about. Lots of talks, events, tours, craft sessions meant to be on - it is only open 2 weekends a year so am very looking forward to going! Hoping to come back and do the declutter then.

Have a good day one and all!

Wow that is a terrific buy! :T

Funny how everyone today has some kind of slow cooker meal on the go today too! Must be a day for it...:)

Funny you should say that mummalove, I came home to find out I'd miss programmed the timer and the blinking slow cooker had not come on! Can anyone recommend an idiot proof timer I could plug my slow cooker into? A worthy investment I feel! Had to cook it on the stove instead, so dinner was about 50 minutes later than planned. Did mean we had time to tackle some decluttering though. DD went through her books and has selected about 40 to go to school, a few to be kept for 'the baby' (the child I haven't even started trying to conceive :rotfl:!) - I cleaned her shelves and dusted her books and they now fit entirely in the space - no more piled on the floor. Looks so much better, I was v proud :D. She is a complete bookworm, hence why she has so many. She can easily read one, two or even 3 books in a day ! W

ent through our bedding and towels with OH after dinner, have got rid of 12 towels, one bedding set, 4 pillowcases that don't match anything. We started rowing about double bed sheets though :o, so stopped the project there! All is now organised - put the duvet set into the pillowcase to keep it all together, all folded nicely, and single, double and king items are all now separated into their own blue ikea bag :j. Should be much easier to find things!

Open Depot was great fun, DD and friend really enjoyed it, as did I and OH. Spent an extra £2 giving them a ride on the model railway, apart from that no unexpected spends over the £20 entrance fee. Considering we were there from 12 to 4 I think we got our money's worth! DD was upset it was only open twice a year as wanted to take her cousin there next week!

Anyway, time to get out of bed and get ready for work. Drinks with teacher from DD's school planned for this evening.

Mortgage changeover day is now confirmed for this Thursday :j:j:j!

Had to pay best part of £1800 to conveyancers today from savings to help cover shortfall towards early redemption charge. However I called C&G and they need less money than the total, so will be due a refund. How much though is questionable - they said £1200, I worked it out as £600. Confused smiley here please! Should get it in a cheque in 10 working days from Thursday - which will go straight on the mortgage, of course!

Had appointment with migraine specialist today, and a very nice chap he was too! Was the first time in 12 years a medical professional has treated me with courtesy and as a human being. (Incidentally the last time was when my old college paid for me to see the top private specialist in the country!) Hats off to the NHS!

However, no magic wand, so he is going to write a list of suggested treatments for me to try. Didn't think there was any link between the stomach and the migraines, and can't refer me for acupuncture/alternative treatment/nutrionist. I am going to consider preventative treatments, I really feel reluctant to go that way after last time but when I see them written down I can do some more research in my own time. I feel positive overall about the appointment, have a follow up appointment booked and I will be able to email him if I have any questions, just wish they would go away.

A little bit of onepoll today (35p), screened out of !psos, have had my packed (but slightly soggy :( ) lunch. Friend coming round to look at room tonight, although think it will be later in the week she lets us know.

Needed some new make up and saw Collection 2000 do a liquid pencil eyeliner very much like the Bourgeouis one I use at £2.99 or 2 for £5. The Bourgeouis one is £5.99. Needed mascara too, so got mascara, eyeliner and my favourite eyeshadow ever for £10 - a saving of about £7 :D.

Fingers crossed indeed! Had another migraine come on on way home :(, friend was coming over but I had to take a tablet and go to bed for a few hours, OH showed her the room. Felt really awful about not being well enough to welcome her properly, but not much I could do. Will know later in the week whether she wants to take it.

Will let you know about the Collection 2000 make-up, first impressions are good but I always like to try things about a month. The eyeshadow I use is the Rimmell colour mousse, £4.99 http://www2.rimmellondon.com/AU/products/eyes/Eyeshadows/Colour+Mousse+Eye+Shadow.aspx, they do it in different colours to what the website shows. It lasts all day without creasing, and is very soft and soothing to apply! Have had 3 pots of it in last year, wear it everyday, and it is the only eyeshadow I have ever got to the bottom of! It can dry out near the end, but you can add a drop of water or apply with wet finger. They do it in a pinky brown which is gorgeous, but they didn't have today so I am using a bronzey brown.

    Great news - the remortgage was completed today :D :j :j :D

I now owe FD the princely sum of £190K, on a 25 year term, fixed for the next five years at 3.89%. The interest saved per month is around £200 off our previous rate, and that will all be going as an OP.

I now need to set some new targets. I had said £19K off the mortgage in 1 year, however we are now mid-march and have had a bit to spend on the works on the house. We are nearing the end of these, but there are two other financial matters:
    1. OH does also need a new (to us, anyway) car, and sooner rather than later. We are budgeting £6k for this, of which £5k we can claim back as an interest free loan from his work. However, we still need the money upfront. Currently we have £3K in savings, of which we need to pay the final sum to the builders (between £1.5-£2k). So at least £4k to save there, I'm hoping we can do this by July.
    2. We do need to build up our savings, having cashed them all in for the loft. £8k is the figure we have in mind. When we get the £5k back, we will then start OPing mortgage proper, but also put some towards savings.

    So, targets.
Our mortgage with no OPs would be at approx £186.5K by end 2011
With £210pm OP would be at £184.6K
PLUS We also have £1.1k due back from C&G which would take our mortgage to £183.5K
PLUS If we pay £1k pm from August we'd be at £177.4K
PLUS if we have our friend move in and pay £400pm we'd be at £174.2K
PLUS if I made £150pm towards the mortgage we'd be at £173K
PLUS if OH pays his final 13th month payment we'd be at £171.8K

So, any advice on what target to set? I want it to be challenging, but achievable, and motivating rather than off-putting. There are a few what ifs here.

Thinking gold, silver, bronze targets again. Gold would be £173K or below, Silver £177K or below, Bronze £181K or below. Any comments welcome!

We would then end up with a new car, £8k in savings, having decorated and furnished our loft, and having reduced our mortgage. Wanting everything, moi :rotfl:?
