He doesn't. Never let a little thing like the facts get in the way of a goog old benefit bash

OP quit your winging and advertise elsewhere for your £500-£700pw tradesman *cough cough* tranlsated to labourers on about £40 a day. Max!

What sort of comment is that? This is a rant forum - isn't it? I'm not advertising here and how the hell can you substantiate your ridiculous translation?

Skilled tradesmen can always find work,be it on the black economy or elsewhere :)

mmmm...... my OH has been unemployed since last sept, he is skilled in his job as an electrical supervisor, has been in the trade for 44 years. Hes just been lucky enough to get a job starting next month...and had applied for over 100 jobs, 95% of which didnt even bother contacting him! Phaps it was ageism? but it was hard for him to find a job!

ETA..... Also he was the electrical supervisor at Heathrow T5 when it was being built, since he left there he has reapplied for jobs there( as there has been more works that have been done), but would have had to go through all the rigmarol of getting an airside pass again, and most of the jobs that were offered wanted immediate starts, and you cant 'just get an airside pass overnight!

If you don't want to work, you have to work to earn enough money so that you won't have to work ;)
  • OP.... have you considered putting an ad on Gumtree ( not sure if it covers all areas of the UK tho )

Why on earth not? If he can't find work he 'wants', he should take work he can get.

Before anyone starts, I spent a couple of months on the dole a couple of years back. I applied for dozens of jobs (many didn't bother to reply which is truly unforgiveable) and eventually got something - not as good as I had (lower pay, etc), but a job nontheless.

There ARE jobs out there. Yes, they may be crappy. Yes, they may be low paid. Yes, you may have to do something you'd rather not. But why the hell should the state support your idleness if you don't take whatever there is.

Exactly this... My last job was extremely saftey critical and carried massivew amounts of responsibility for thousands of people lives every day( more then someone with a masters maybe could do) cant find one at the moment but do still have me dignity so am scouring everywhere for work...

I was on the dole for a few months last year & it was no picnic! All my savings got used up just living day to day & I would've been glad of a builder knocking on my door offering me work.Even tho I'm not a quald Spark,I am a quald TV & Phone engineer,so would be able to do pre-wiring ect.

Morgan-Ree is just as entitled to rant as you are.

Anyway have you been on to the Job Centre to dob your kak applicants in?

And have you recruited anyone yet or have you been too busy spouting drivel on an internet messageboard?

Ah - Mr (or Mrs) Know-it-all returns! Do you make it your mission to try to provoke an arguement in every post you make? I'm sure Morgan-Ree is capable responding themselves without such a bitter person acting as their spokesperson.

Anyway, in answer to your questions.... I have got the guys I need and have talked things through with the job centre plus people - thanks for your concern!
