you've got a Broadcom BCM4322 Wireless card
03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4322 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
OK now we need to make sure you've got the correct drivers.
Go into "system", "Administration" then "Synaptic Package Manager"
in the "Quick Search" box type in "Broadcom"
You should get 6 items:
*bcmwl-kernel-source
*broadcom-sta-common
*broadcom-sta-source
b43-fwcutter
bcm5700-source
bcmwl-modaliases
Make sure the 3 with the (*) are installed, and the other 3 are not installed.
If they are installed, right click on the bottom 3 and select "Marked for Complete removal"
Apply the upgrade & when it's finished reboot and see if their is any difference in the wireless.
Ok i've just done that but nothing came up ?0 -
OK looks like you need to add some "Software Sources"
Go to "System" then "Administration" then "Software Sources"
make sure all items are ticked in the "Ubuntu Software" & "Updates" tabs
Click "Close" It will then say the information is out of date click "Reload"
It will do away after downloading updated package lists.
Once the screen closes go back to my previous post, it should work now...Laters

OK
Just a thought, but have you got the DELL PPA installed?
go to "System" "Administration" "Software Sources" click on "Other Software" tab and click add:
insert the following
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/dell-team/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
then
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/dell-team/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
close and refresh.
Then run an update that adds in DELLs drivers which should include the correct Wireless drivers
you might have to go into Hardware Drivers in Administration menu to activate them...Laters

Done that, it did not install any drivers the only one there which was there anyway is the Broadcom sta proprietary wireless driver which is activated and currently in use......

Unfortunately I'm stumped, it might just be a case of starting from scratch and installing Dells version of Ubuntu on the machine.

If that does not work then it's a hardware issue with the wireless router. Then there's nothing you can do apart from getting another router...Laters
