That's a lovely verse, Deb. It brought a tear to my eye thinking back to our Suki. I will be thinking of you today and looking out for you on the forum, when you feel up to posting. Stay strong for your buddy, if he could speak he would thank you for your kindness. My Suki will take good care of him up there x♥x

Anyone who's lost a dog and cared for it will know what you're going through. We lost our eldest through kidney disease in March and we'll never forget what a wonderful dog (person) she was. We were lucky in that we had a caring vet that was happy to come to our home.

No words will compensate for how you feel, but you'll gradually heal but never forget.

Not just a dog but any pet.My Orbit went last Sept & I still miss the cantankerous little !!!!!!! Getting Daisy helped a lot, last month, some animals (fox or badgers) tried to dig up where he's sleeping. My neighbour called me to tell me about it & all the memories came flooding back,People say " Oh it's just a cat/dog ect" but it's not. It's part of the family!

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.
RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxx
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

There are some people who have a dog or a cat, and they are just that: 'the dog' or 'the cat'. Some people never seem to get attached to a pet. In a way, I guess they are at least saving themselves from this terrible heartache the rest of us have to go through. You are right, It is the loss of a family member to us. Unfortunately we are all part of a club we would never wish to join. We know the pain that inevitably comes from loving and losing the little s*ds, but would do it all again if we had the chance.

I know that, if we could have our five years again with Suki, we would, even knowing how it hurt to let her go. We'll never ever let go of her in our hearts. There she stays for eternity, loved and missed every minute.

Exactly.I went out & got Daisy within a few days of Orbit's passing,It helped me grieve in a big way.I still talk to Orbit when I go in the garden.Thing is,when the chips are down, you're feeling pretty low,you can count on a pet to cheer you up.

Pets have no judgements , love you as you are , and give you a cuddle on demand (usually!)
They are much better than most humans !
