It was just a month ago that we went through the same. The time does come when you have to do what is right for them, so hard for us but they will be out of pain.

Just before Chester was PTS he looked up at my other half as if to say thankyou, something I will remember forever (& has brought tears to my eyes remembering) which makes me know it was right.

Remember you are doing it out of love & they will love you for it.

    Oh !!!!!!...

I don't know what to say, I was praying you both had much longer than this!

I feel everything you're going through &, trust me, you will look back & know you did the only thing you could to help him.

    Bless you both xxx

So sorry Deb, I have been through it so many times now and it doesnt get any easier. You have done your very best for him, he has known more love than most poor dogs in this world and now you are easing his passing. God bless to you and your family and may your boy be running free at Rainbow Bridge with my pack.

Thanks for your support it is much appreciated, it has helped to just come on here and read your thoughts when I start to go downhill, I have calmed down a bit now, am just waiting for the vet to call to confirm our appointment tomorrow afternoon. And trust Neelix, got up this morning and he's bouncing (as best he can) around wanting to play with his ball, so then the doubts start again, am I doing the right thing or not. But I know deep down he is not happy and is only in slight pain because of the steroids and would be in great pain if he wasn't.

We had a chuckle though when the vet asked if I wanted to go to the surgery or stay at home, I was already in tears and I said do you really want me in there in a state worse than this, every one is going to wonder what the hell you have done to my dog. So have been given a few more hours with him, so one very spoilt dog going to that lovely big clover field (sorry up there).

I would put a photo on so you can see my handsome fella but haven't figured out how to, so you'll just have to take my word that he is the best looking white boxer going.

So again thank you all for posting or just reading and wishing me well and remembering all your pets that have passed on as well. Big hugs and sloppy kisses to everyone out there.

There is no way I could take my boys and girls to a vets room, they have all died in our arms in their own safe home.

It's such a sad thing to go through, debjam, but you know in your heart of hearts that you're doing the right thing. Whenever I have to make that terrible, final decision, I always ask myself what I would want if I was them. It's the last and one of the most loving things we can do for them, to make sure they don't suffer too long.

    Thinking of you both.

    Deb,

I'm so so sorry to hear this, my thoughts really are with you. DH and I lost our beautiful girl Suki just over a month ago, so I know what you are feeling, and what you will be feeling after your friend has gone. But please, please always hold onto the thought that you are doing the best thing for him. This is the hardest decision we ever have to make for our pets, but they love us, trust us, and rely on us to do the kindest thing.

This forum was an absolute Godsend to me, I really needed help the day after we lost Suki and the people on here pulled me through a horrendous day, so please come to us if you need to talk.

Much love and big hugs to you x♥x
