I'm so sorry to hear about your doggie

I'm sure he will go to a better place where there is no pain. He is probably very greatful for having two loving owners like you to look after him.

Couldn't read and run - sitting here with my 2 dogs on the sofa with me - can't bare the thought of what I'll be like when something happens to one of them , they really are my kids - people without dogs can't begin to understand the total devotion and unquestioning love you get !
I prefer my 2 to most people I meet
My thoughts are with you - just think how lucky he has been to have someone who loves him as much as you do to the end

I'm so very sorry for you, as a fellow animal lover, making that horrendous decision really is the worst thing of all..... Having said tearful goodbyes to five cats over the last few years, looking back, actually making the decision, making that terrible phone call, really is the utmost heartbreaker. Oddly, as I've found, after that comes a sort of quiet acceptance, sad and reflective... I send you sympathetic cyber hugs at this time - I hope you have kind friends and family who understand and who will support you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks for the verse, I saw Rainbow Bridge the last time Chris&TJ posted it. sat and cried my eyes out then as well. He's going to see his nan and great uncle bert again.

My dear, I am so sorry to hear what you are going through - it is the most difficult decision a person can ever make for their friend. You are safe in the knowledge that you gave a him a happy and good life. In making sure he doesn't suffer you are showing him how much you love him. My thoughts and best wishes are with you.
