Was just about to renew our annual travel policy with Holidaysafe. However, it transpires in the small print that cameras are now classified as gadgets and only covered if you pay for the additional ‘gadget extension’ (provided by another insurer, cost £50, with several limitations e.g. items must be less than 3 years old). Very sneaky. Who goes on holiday without a camera?
Similarly, cruises are only covered if you pay extra for the ‘cruise extension’.
Anyone know of any other good travel policies that still cover cameras – and other essentials – as part of the core policy?0 -
Hi Victor_Delta,

Last September I read here (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/travel/2015/09/top-pick-insurer-direct-travel-closes-for-new-business-heres-what-existing-users-should-know) that Direct Travel were no longer selling new policies, I'd bought my insurance from them several times before as they were Martin's 'best buy'
Was looking at travel insurance last night and they seem to be back in business!
Anyone know what happened? Were they taken over? And are they still any good?

Hi Guys
Dilemma -- anyone know of any UK online travel insurers that cover white water rafting grade Class III-IV?
Was hoping to order travel insurance for my Costa Rica holiday in August in which we will be white water rafting grade Class III-IV.
I've visited many insurers and gone through the whole process, declaring pre-existing conditions and in the Hazardous Activities section I discover that white water rafting grade Class III-IV isn't covered or only class I-II is covered. Frustrating.
Ideally could order my insurance online so as to avail of cashback.
All thoughts and suggestions would be really appreciated!0 -

My youngest has been in Oz for six months and has had to extend her return to UK by 2 weeks. Her current Travel Insurance do not extend policies (zero claims have ben made). I've been given 4 insurance companies that do cover whilst abroad but reviews aren't good. Any recommendations greatly received. Thanks0

I have searched around for the best deal for travel insurance for many years as I've been taking my mother on holiday since she was 75. She has unstable angina so sometimes we've been quoted up to £800. I've found JustTravel.com in Sunderland to be the cheapest by miles. This year we were going to pay £400 for three weeks abroad. Sadly Mum can't go as she isn't well enough. Just Travel kindly refunded the full premium despite the fact that I had mistakenly cancelled our policy and not my mum's.
The people at JustTravel are lovely and will do their best to get you the cheapest price.
Another tip is to forego cancellation insurance if you book a hotel without cancellation charges and are willing to pay a bit extra to change your flight if the elderly person can't go.0
