I doubt it as the trip has to start and end in the UK. Also you would be uninsured for the remaining 5 months and that could bankrupt you if something happened and you weren't insured.

I've just read that if British Airways lose your bag they are responsible even if you not have insurance... can anyone clarify

But you were the one who read it!0 -
Protectyourbubble.com quoted me the attached for a yearly multi-trip worldwide (inc. USA) with wintersports for a couple (£100 excess). Using promo code PYBREN10 to get 10% off and Quidco to get £4 back puts the economy cover down to £41.05. £14 cheaper than the best buy on MSE!

Does anyone know where (or if) we can obtain future travel insurance that would pay out for unused accomodation where a scheduled flight is cancelled for reasons beyond the airlines control.
We were recently unlucky enough to have independantly booked rental accomodation in Italy only to find that our flight was cancelled, due to a one day strike in Italy. We arrived 4 days later than planned on the earliest available flight with the same airline. We had paid for the accomodation and with only 24 hours notice could not obtain a refund. We were told by AXA that we are not covered.

As at least one previous post on this thread has pointed out, changes to Direct Travel Insurance's policies and premiums have made them very expensive compared with their previous offerings.
I have used them for our annual worldwide family policy for 10 years, with the premium gradually increasing over that period from about £55 to about £70. This year's renewal quote was for £115.
Rather than renewing with them, I have taken out a "Protect Your Bubble" policy through Moneysupermaket at a cost of £46.51, which even include winter sports cover.
I think it's time to re-write the Travel Insurance article.

Hi
I need travel insurance from Thursday 13th for Spain for 10 days.
I have a haitus hernia, epigastric hernia and umbilcal hernia , the second and third due to surgery 4 years ago.
I am 61 years of age and have recently lost over 4 stone in weight which is making these conditions less of a problem and I have halved my medication for the Hiatus hernia.
However the prices that I am being quoted are in excess of £40, which seems a lot. The exception to this is with Medici but they are backed by Astrenska Ltd and I cannot find any information about them.
Please can anyone advise?

My wife and I have an Annual Worldwide Travel Insurance policy and satisfied all the pre-existing mecical conditions at the time of taking out the policy. My doctor has recently discovered a small amount of sugar in my urine and is taking a blood test next week. If it turns out that I have developed diabetes, will the insurance compny insist that I cancel my future trips, or should they be able to cover me for an additional premium. Their conditions say that "Call us and we will tell you if cover can continue,If cover cannot continue you may be able to claim for the cost of cancelling your travelling arrangements.
Surely, if they can't provide the cover, the should cover the costs of cancelling.0 -

It depends entirely on the wording of your particular policy. I'm afraid you'll need to read it to see what they can and can't do.
Policies like this are becoming increasingly common, unfortunately, and this sort of situation could lead to an increased premium. They may have to pay you the cancellation costs, though, depending on the policy wording.0 -
Hi,
I need to get some travel insurance for a 3 week trip to South America.
What are the best policies - i.e. which have a reputation for paying out on fair claims? I'm will to pay for a decent policy as I have a medical condtion and I don't want to pay money only to be refused if I have to claim due to some niggly small print.
I've read most policies and they are all starting to look the same.
Any recommendations?
