What are the advantages or disadvantages of having a couple travel insurance cover instead of having both as single person cover?
I thought it was supposed to be cheaper but its coming up the same, just double the amount if both of them are on then if the pre existing condition is added its just is exactly the same cost as if they were single policies but added togetherThanx

My husband lost his wedding ring in the sea. We searched for it but it was long gone. When we got home we reported it to the insurance that came with our account but they said we had no claim because we hadn't reported it to the police. In 20 years of travelling I have never had to claim so did not know that lost rings in the sea had to be reported to the police. Anyone else had this problem and and suggestions to get the claim paid? thanks0

That's a pretty standard clause, unfortunately, and it's unlikely they'll move from their position.
If, however, you could establish that for some reason it would have been impossible/impractical to report it to the police, it's possible that a complaint to the FSA might lead to a finding in your favour (if the company still won't budge).0 -
Hi,I'm going for a 17 day trip to usa, including 3 days las vegas,3 days los angeles,7 day cruise to mexico and 3 days in san francisco. I'm 72,have high blood pressure, cholestorol and a hiatus hernia. I've had loads of quotes for age and medical conditions the highest was from swinton who apologised and said they only deal with 1 insurer and quote was £910. virgin was about £400 and others ranged from about £200 upwards. I've just had a quote from EXPLORER ins. covering all conditions for £122. Anyone interested the phone number is 0800 043 4003 or go online.0

Hi Toscat
You might want to try Flexicover [dot] co [dot] uk [sorry, not allowed to post links as I'm a 'new user' (actually, I'm not, it's just that I had to re-register under a different name as I completely forgot my pword and the email addy I had used previously!] -- they offer most medical conditions as standard, and have a very easy screening process (online or over the phone).
Plus, if you can get 17.17% cashback with Top Cashback
Good luck!0 -
Hi all, just to let you know we've just got single trip cover for 2 people for 14 nights in Cuba for £23.48 with virgin through moneysupermarket.com (this is cheaper than going direct through virgin!) It was only an extra £9 to get covered for a full year instead of single trip but we wont be going away again now for a while so there was no point for us.0

totally new to this i haven't traveled much but i am going to canada for up to 6 months and wondering what travel insurance is and should i get it?
sorry to ask a silly question but is this the same thing for if i was to get ill or hurt myself etc
thanks0 -
You will probably need Backpacker's insurance as most single trip or annual policies only cover for up to 31 or 45 days away.
Yes you do need travel insurance for cover for cancellation, medical and baggage. Click on Travel or Insurance at the top of the forum.0 -
Hi,
I've read all the boards and things that you need to look out for with holiday insurance, but still unsure what I need!
I'm going to cancun during hurricane season so need cover for that, but am also going on to new York after cancun. We have booked all sections of the trip ourselves rather than a package so guess I need extra cover?
Please can someone recommend a suitable policy.
I will also be traveling again in the near future so may be worth going wih an annual policy.
Thanks for all your help!0 -
can i get travel insurance for just the first month of my trip instead because my ticket is for 6 months but i don't actually know how long i will be staying0
