Wii Fit questions

I love my wii fit. I mainly use the Sports Active programme and I have lost weight and increased my stamina with that. The wii fit programme that came with my board is a bit too easy, but I have just bought the new one which is supposed to be much better. I'm also hoping they will bring out better dance games in the future (not just teenage pop stuff).
It really works for me because I find it hard to get to classes because of where I live and my working hours. I also have asthma so have problems exercising outside because of the cold air in the winter and pollen in the summer.0 -
We had one for Christmas this year, and i did start to use it (between 3 and 5 times a week), but lost interest about one month ago. I found the balance/yoga/muscle games really useful - i didnt realise how bad my posture was.
My only issue with it is thus: If you are using it as a family, you each have to take it in turn. Sure, there are some games you can do together, and you can do most of the exercises by the side of whoever is playing without having to be the one officially playing, but it is nice to record your time/kcals etc. If Wii bring a new version out where two or more players can do the excercises at the same time, i would definately buy it with a new balance board.
I would still recommend it to anyone who is starting out/hasn't exercised in a while.0 -
I am unfit. I'm about 4st overweight and am working on shifting that, but exercise is the killer. I feel so discouraged because I get knackered just doing anything..I mowed the lawn today and had to keep stopping every 10 minutes or so...
I have Wii Fit Plus..hardly ever used..more money wasted. Can anyone recommend any good 'starter' games on it?
I'd just like some advice on getting started with a fitness programme, when I feel too unfit to do very much!
Can't afford a personal trainer or anything right now, but I do have some hand weights at home and a treadmill that serves as an extra wardrobe :rotfl::rotfl:
Any suggestions ?0 -
hi
i have a wii fit and find it helpfull for weighing yourself and easing yourself into exercise the yoga workouts are a good place to start and also the balance games such as heading football/penguin slide and also the abacus. i find they just get you moving and when you feel able the hula, step basics and boxing are good for the next step.

Hi
Wii Fit/Fit Plus is quite gentle so dont expect dramatic results just from that. If you can get your treadmill out or get out in the fresh air and do brisk walking that sounds like a good place to start. Couch to 5k is a good running programme too that sounds scary but isnt. You start off by jogging for a minute at a time and once you get past that its the hardest thing you have to do. If you are really worried about health it might be an idea to see your doctor first and get their advice about what type of programme would be best. I like fitness classes as all you have to do is get yourself there - once you are there someone else is motivating you for the next hour or so.The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
If you are happy to buy one more item for the wii - look at EA Sports Active (£17.99 on Amazon) comes with resistance bands and is like having a personal trainer (I now have the 'more workouts' but it doesn't come with the band)0

I'm trying to ease myself into exercise. I've just started using the wii fit. At the moment I am aiming for 20 mionutes every day. Up to press i have been doing the hula hoops, basic step aerobics, jogging. So far I have achieve my 20 minutes a day but have no idea what toning/weightloss to expect. I can say though that i can 'feel' my calf muscles-so it must be doing something.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I agree with the above although I don't play many of the balance games. When I first started using the Wii Fit I began with the yoga and a bit of hula hoop then added some step. At first it really used to do me in
but after a week I was getting less out of breath with encouraged me to a little bit more until I could easily manage 30 minutes at a time.
I found the hula hoop helped tone my tummy and the boxing really got my heart rate going (it helps to imagine punching someone you dislike)
Start small with something your comfortable with and befor you know it you'll be challenging yourself without realising it, good luck
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

We've had a Wii Fit since last November and the most important thing, as with any other exercise, is to stick with it.
I often don't want to do it but by getting up half an hour earlier each day and doing it first thing, it's become part of my routine. I usually do it every day and only very rarely less than 6 times a week.
I think you should try a variety of things until you find something you enjoy or at worst, dislike least. My current routine is 3 yoga poses, then hoola hooping, then boxing then finish off with 20 minutes free jogging.
The yoga is good for flexibility and warming up, the hoola hoop is brilliant for toning the midriff, the boxing is a good all round workout and the jogging burns most calories. I do the free jogging because I can watch TV whilst I do it and the time just flies by.
I've lost about a stone since Christmas by exercising and eating healthily, but more importantly I'm much better toned and my thighs in particular have lost that awful 'orange peel' look.
I'm off to the south of France for a fortnight tomorrow and feel much more confident than usual about how I'll look around the pool.
Good luck with it.0
