Wii Fit questions

I'm thinking that a wii fit could be cheaper than a gym membership and when i stop using it at least it will play other games.

is it really possible to lose weight if i use it regularly? (at the moment i do no exercise except walking)

Not having a wii I can't really comment on the new wii fit. But I guess it's like anything really, you have to do it for it to work. So I guess the new wii fit would be more fun than say the gym, but I expect in time the novelty will wear off. From the ads I've seen it doesn't seem like its intensive exercise, so I guess really it depends on the results your after.

I think you really need to question if you'd keep it up and so would the money be worth it. A £30 stepper in front of the telly is cheaper, but again you must use it for it to work.

I don't think so to be honest.

We have one and a few games have you leaping around like a lunatic, but most don't. I think you would be better if you keep going for long walks and either go to the gym (if you can afford membership), or buy one of these home fitness DVDs.'s for fitness.

    Wii's are great fun though!!

Hi wolfehouse, We have a wii fit (it's great fun) I have to agree with some of the others, it will only work if you actually use it. But I would also add that it has other features like letting you set targets and helping you to keep track of how you are doing. My OH has really been trying hard to eat well since the wii fit told him he was actually obese ( he knew that anyway - think it was just hearing it from a computer game that gave him the shove he needed)

I don't think it would be a bad idea to purchase it to aid weightloss by any means. But it wouldn't be the answer in total and it would be unfair to pin all your hopes on it.

Weight loss is only possible when calories taken in are less than calories expended. The best way to lose weight is the balanced approach i.e. eat healthy (but no fad diets as your metabolism slows down on these and once you tire of the diet the weight goes straight back on), exercise to expend calories (doesn't need to be gym - walks, aerobics, swimming, dancing etc are just as good). I would also recommend weight training - Ok, you may not wish to look like Arnie, but a pound of muscle burns 4x as many calories as a pound of fat, therefore light weights will not only burn calories whilst executing the exercise, but every minute of every day!

I think too many people in society either diet too much and don't exercise (ala the yo-yo effect) or they do masses of exercise and just carry on eating what they want, eventually when they don't get quick results (due to calorie intake), they think the gym isn't working and pack it in!

    Just my thoughts lol.........

Oops forgot to add....The Wii would be a compliment to all of the above, as any movement done is a bonus. So rather than sat watching telly or something, the Wii would burn off a few calories and they all count.

If will def help. Went on next doors last night and did a 10 minute jog which is somthing I would never do!!! Then did 10 minutes step aerobics while watching Eastenders. I was shattered by the end!

Next door though have been doing 20 minutes a day and so far shes lost a few pounds (in just over a week).

    I now want one!!

As I say, anything involving movement will help. But I wouldn't make a Wii the be all and end all of exercise or you would end up disappointed.

ROFL - Not a bad find mate. But in all seriousness it would be better than slouching on couch.
