I don't like this thread. The vast majority on here seem to be receiving a letter from MH, and basically trying to worm their way out of paying a debt.
If you built up the debt, you should have to pay it back. End of story.
MH contacted me a few months ago, and I paid back what I owed.
Good for you.0 -

Really......
No its about making sure they are legally allowed to collect the debt. Muck hall often try and collect statute barred debts. They are bottom feeders.
You do realise that if muck hall had brought your husbands debt and it was say for £100 then muck hall would have paid about £10 for it......Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
If you get a letter from these and do call them back, as the debt is statute barred, then why not give the nice chaps the number of your local police force as it being yours. I am sure if mr/mrs pc plod were getting phone calls from these fools all day long on their switchboard then it would lead to mac hal getting some rather nice letters in return, with a nice E:R (Elizabeth Reigns) badge on top!!!0

Please don't do that!! This is what I do for a living. It's bad enough the recorded debt messages that come through on 999 on a day to day basis.Fantastic Expectations Amazing Revelations0 -

Have you read the thread?
You'll find that most posters are being chased for debts that are not proven as theirs, or are theirs but are unenforceable by statute.
MH have already been warned by the OFT for their conduct in this regard.
We can't comment on your dealings with MH because we don't have the full story.
Also please don't use the phrase 'End of story' as that is rarely the case.0 -

That's not a good idea, Reesy. However, if you are getting quotes from, say a motor insurance comparison site, and you don't want to give your details because of the flood of sales calls it will generate, why not be Mr Mackenzie Hall on 01563 554540?0 -
I have a slightly different question about MH and apologies if it's the wrong thread.
At regular intervals I get letters from them addressed to other people. None of these people (it's about 3 different ones) are known to me and weren't the previous owner either. I've been there for over 6 years.
Each time I contact them to advice that the person is not known and ask for them to adjust their information so I don't keep getting letters. However they claim they can only do it for each case once informed, and not for a person. Now coming from the IT background that I do, I struggle to believe that they don't have some sort of relational database where they could just flag the person up as no associated with my address.
Is there anything that I can do in terms of further action. I'm fed up of having to call their 0844 number each time. Can I complain about harassment. Should I e-mail them instead (or is that going to lead to a stream of e-mails etc, though I can set up a new e-mail just to deal with this sort of thing).
It is minor compared to what others have to go through, but am happy for anything anyone can suggest.
Many thanks0 -
Easy. Either bin the letters or return them marked "not known at this address". Personally I'd just bin them. If they aren't for you then nothing bad can happen.
Why you're calling them on national rate numbers each time is beyond me.0
