Mackenzie Hall / CCJ

My elderly parents moved house and had a phone put in about 7 months ago. It's protected by a TrueCall Care machine which is set so no-one can get through unless they're authorised or know the code. The message gives an alternative mobile number which I answer.
This number has been given out to immediate family only - the mobile number is used as their contact number. They are ex-directory and registered with TPS.
Immediately the phone line went live they have been called by Mackenzie Hall, and the calls continue. They never try the mobile number. I have been blocking the numbers by adding them to the "Choose to Refuse" service. This will only hold 10 numbers and it's almost full.
It's obviously someone else they are after. My concern is that the TrueCall isn't foolproof (it won't work during a power cut for example) and what could happen if my parents answered the phone to MH.
Do I continue to ride it out, hoping they will eventually give up, or should I write to them using one of the templates? If I do write, I don't want to give out my parents' details (name, address etc). Could I send a letter with just the phone number on?
I do wonder sometimes how these DCA's get numbers and details from apart from the generic fishing trips they go on.
Almost makes me wonder what sort of back-room back-handers these companies give each other...0 -
I posted in this thread last year about phonecalls I have been receiving from MH. Unfortunately they just keep on coming and it is starting to get really annoying!
They definitely aren't calling for me. They were leaving automated messages on my answer machine so I had been keeping this off to try and stop them and the frequency does seem to decrease to a couple of times a week rather than practially every day.
I've just changed to a new phone provider and even though my answer machine is off I realised I had 1571 and they have left a couple of messages on that which have been a person.
They are after Aaron Swan and have left a reference number. I have never heard of Mr Swan, he doesn't live at my address, he's never lived here and the phone number has been associated with me since 1999. Nothing has ever arrived in the post, only these phone calls.
I really want them to stop contacting me but ignoring the calls hasn't worked and it has been going on for too long now. Should I write to them now I have a name and a reference number? I won't be planning to put my address on the letter of course :rotfl:
Any thoughts would be gratefully received. I'm planning on switching off the 1571 and the answer machine for a period of time so perhaps if no calls are ever answered this might work? - Just because I love this emoticon!0 -
For some unimaginable reason they are pursuing me, they are either on a fishing or phishing expedition looking for somebody with a similar name, and have fairly obviously have not done any due diligence on checking my identity, or credit record.
They only appear to have my mobile number, not landline number or address or email all of which can be found easily. The interesting thing is only about ten close friends and family have my unlisted mobile number, with the exception that my mobile number was given out was when I was arranging for the delivery of kitchen appliances this summer, the calls from these toerags started within a couple weeks.
As a computer professional I am very cautious over identity security issue and with the first 5 seconds of the start their first call I realised they were fishing (lets be honest more like phishing) and cursed them and immediately put the phone down. A few clicks on the net revealed who the number belonged to and since then I have blocked any calls or txts from them using a free Android app (Mr Number). In addition recently bought a call blocking unit for my landline (cost £25) which I have programmed to block calls from any of their numbers I was able to find the internet.
I would suggest these days caller display and call blockers for both landline and mobile are a good investment and essential if these phone bullies pick on you.0 -

Buy a call blocker as long as you have caller display activated on your line it will block any numbers you choose. They cost about £25 to £55 look for a model with an LCD display. On getting a call from a blocked number they will pick-up the call for a split second then immediately drop the line so the caller can't get access to your 1571 voicemail.0
