Told you I'd need help with this puppy.

Oh good she is making progress to becoming a 'big girl'. I was taught to put a clock with a audiable 'tick tock' under the beddding, so the pup would associate with the beat of her mothers heart. Always worked with the pups i have had.0

She empties everything to one side of the crate and sleeps on the cold metal tray. She's very odd. If we leave it open, she'll pull everything out and go and sit in it on her own. She's special. Ha ha.
Toilet training seems to be coming on as well which I'm pleased with. Still plenty of mistakes but she's getting better.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Would you believe it, puppy slept until 6.30 this morning and I went down before there was any crying. She was just sitting there playing with her toys. I was almost going to try get away with trying for 7am, but thought it best to stick to her schedule. Looks like it might not be just the light mornings making her wake up. Sleeping and leaving her alone has helped by playing the classical music , maybe she doesnt hear the birds and other dogs barking anymore but there has been a definite improvement. If we dont leave her with the Kong she cries for ages, so it is a lifesaver.
Potty training has gone backwards though, especially when people are visiting. The cats are now coming near the door when we go out for a wee which is distracting her. Eventually we go back in. Repeat a few times, then she just wees or poos in the house...LOL..obviously doesnt like to be watched!! Time to start all over again!
I have noticed over the last few days, she has been sleeping alot more than when we first got her. She is still eating well and toilet is fine, so not worrying too much. Gives me more of a chance to get things done in the house
I didnt think about having to carry the puppy around for a few weeks before she was fully vaccinated. She is around 9kgs now and still two weeks till we can walk her...I can only walk a few hundred metres with her before Im knackered.
Good to hear the news of the other puppies. It must be so frustrating when you cant get into a routine cos all the hard work seems to go out the window. Im sure u r not pandering to her, they are hard work and cant do things for themselves. We too have all been getting up at silly times of the morning for our dogs to pee. I say all this hard work now will pay its rewards as the dog gets older!Lets hope so.....0 -
Firefly what kind have you got? And how old?
Belle has totally freaked me out. Last night I sat next to her crate and said bed...she pottered into her crate and led down. I closed it, turned everything off, went up to bed, got into bed - not one bark!! In fact, no barking at all until 2.30 am when DH got home from work! MADNESS! I was so shocked I almost came back down to check she was still ok. Ha ha.
She's also been really good with the potty training (unless she's with DH). So I'm guessing she's starting to see me as boss. She's still a little slow on the uptake with regard to her food but she's eating and thats the main thing. She's just turning each meal into 2 sittings. Ha ha. I'm so proud of her. We are going for our first walk on Wednesday and I can't wait.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Twinklie glad to hear you had a better night and Firefly80 6.30 oh to have a sleep in, lucky you. Boris is fine going to bed and doesnt complain in the night. He wakes about 5ish and will go back to bed until the kids get up about 6ish, would love it if he could just stretch it till 6 befor he gets up. The house training sometimes goes well, sometimes not, he has been going to the door to be let out and then sometimes he will just wee in the house:( Oh well hopefully he'll get it soon.0

Twinklie, Lottie is a Golden Retriever and 10 weeks old today. We were even luckier today, got a lie in till 6.45 - hopefully stretch it out till 7 soon
Thats great she is going to bed without a bark! It so nice to see all the hard work paying off. The first night Lottie slept through the night, I woke up in a panic I was terrified something had happened to her.
Tornadao, Lottie is the same as Boris with housetraining. We have started back at basics again, i really thought we had it cos she was going to the door but no still in the house all the time nowOh well..cant complain, in a much more patient mood now I am getting more sleep!

Awww bless. I love GR's. Another perfect night and she went into her bed easily again. I'm not getting too excited but I am hopeful!
Perhaps she's just being a super star for mummy's birthday! :j
House training seems to be getting better and better here. Although we were up at 4.30 am for a wee...doh! We've also now got our head around, sit, leave (but only food....toys she ignores me) and giving her paw. She doesn't have a clue why she's doing it though and looks really confused. But the food she receives every time she does it seems to make up for it! Ha ha ha :rotfl:Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Happy Birthday Twinklie:) Glad to hear we are all getting some sleep, Boris slept till 6.50, don't know why so will just have to keep fingers crossed for tonight. Hows walking Belle going, still carrying Boris and took him to pick up the kids from school. He was a bit worried as there were so many kids, noise and other dogs, but he was well behaved.
Just had to stop typing then as Boris was sat at the back door waiting for me to let him out for a wee:j.
Firefly my friend has an Airdale Terrier called Lottie shes 8 months and a complete nutter:). Boris met a Golden Retriever today and he looked massive compaired to Boris. They both were very well behaved even if Boris was slightly over excited.
Dont know about you but everwhere I go now there seems to be people with new pups, including Boris there are 3 in my street. A Golden Retriever and a Beadle. Guess I never noticed before Boris.0 -
Belle went on her first EVER walk today. She LOVED it. I had to practically shove her out into the street (I did try with treats etc first), but then she loved it. The little tailed was wagging most of the way round. However, she was slightly freaked out by a newspaper blowing in the breeze. :rotfl:
She's been really good with the potty training....only one accident today and thats because I had to shut her in before I went to the loo - or it would have been me having an accident. She wouldn't go to the loo before bed last night though so we got up at 3.30 am for a wee....but then slept through to 6.10 am, which is actually later than when I'm meant to get up.
She's pooped now after her walk though. She followed me round for about 30 minutes when we first got in...but now she's zzzzzzzz'ing with the best of em. Bless.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Happy birthday for yesterday Twinklie! So pleased you finally got out walking her, do you think it has helped with the toilet training? I still have 10 days to wait. We have been practicing on the lead down the garden path and driveway, she seems to have the hang of it!
Torndao I hope all Lottie's dont become nutters. She is so well behaved most of the time, but in the evening she just goes nuts will go from one thing to another, all the things she is not allowed to do with teath gnashing at us and jumping around like a bucking broncho! We have a coke can with some pennies in it and shake it after 3 nos of her doing the same thing - she even stops now when she sees the can come out. Cheapest and most effecitive thing we have got...but now cant drink coke in front of her without her going all worried she is gonna get in trouble!! DOH!
Hopefully she might meet another dog tonight, it will be the first one since she come home with us. We dont know many other people with dogs or puppies - well not ones sane enough to meet yet anyway. I wish I could carry her around to see things but she is just too heavy. Shame we have not had kids yet and have a spare stroller to put her in.
Lottie got a new crate and we have had it out for a few days to get used to in the day. This one is a bit more portable and the door is a bit lower so she can get into and out of without our help. We were prepared for all the barking and whining we had with the first one because she had seemed so scared of it even though there were lots of treats to encourage her in, but not a peep till nearly 7 this morning - see has done us proud!0
