Good evening everyone, OH is at work commencing a night shift so it is just me and DS here at present. DS watching a DVD of Life on Mars before I chase him off to bed (normally in bed at nine but I am letting him stay up a bit as a treat because he is such a good lad, and no trouble at all to get up in the morning). We have had a fairly pleasant Fathers Day here, OH more communicative than he has been the past few days.

Just had phone call from my father (lives 200 miles away) - my daughter went down to stay with them for a couple of days this week, and opend her heart out to her grandad about how worried she is about me and her brother. Dad and I had a good talk where I outlined what has happened this past week, and Dad told me what most of you lot have told me - that I should stand up for myself and if OH does not like something I say or do then tough shitski, he will have to like it or lump it. I have told Dad that if OH decides at any time that he wants out then so be it - I know I can survive. I felt quite uplifted after putting the phone down, as my dad is well into his 70s and you know how it is, you don't like troubling family members with your personal problems, particularly when they are knocking on a bit. Dad is coming up here for the wedding as my daughter has asked him to give her away, and he will be staying with us from the day before the wedding to 2 days after - last time he was up here was 2 years ago for my birthday, so it will be nice to have him here again.

I did not win anything on the lottery, but at least I could dream for a day or two, and what is wrong with that? Now off to visit the NSD thread and see where plans are for the outing to Stonehenge. Good night all!

Hiya sweetie pie - glad you had a good talk with your Dad - I'm sure he knew already a bit of your situation, as you can't hide things like that as easily as you think but, with DD opening up to him, talking to you in your present state of mind, will have put his mind more at ease. I'm sure that he is looking forward to visiting you as much as you are and will be so proud as he walks his GD down the aisle (or wherever they are getting married)

You do sound brighter now - more in control and less of a victim, if I may say - I think this diary has really put your mind in focus and help you understand the situation better and how to deal with it

Gorgeous sunny day today, all right with the world. OH and I will have that talk midweek, I just need to get some thoughts down on paper as I get tongue tied when we argue. I don't do confrontation very well, and often I have let things go rather than cause trouble - probably because I have been afraid that things will end and I will be a single parent again. The difference now is that my daughter is 21 and out of the house, my son is nearly 12 and old enough not to be shielded from unpleasant things in life, and I am getting to the stage when I am too long in the tooth to be bossed around. We are on this earth but a short time, so why put up with bad behaviour? I am on night shift tomorrow so will leave my written thoughts and feelings with OH to peruse at his leisure. Hopefully he will take on board what I have to say and think carefully about what he wants to do. He has so much to be thankful for, and so much to lose if he is stupid.

All fine at present, hopefully discussions will go well tomorrow. At least I know now that whatever happens I and DS will be ok, ideally with OH in situ but if not then what will be will be. There are plenty of people worse off in the world, and I have done the single parent stuff once so I know I can if need be do it again. Hope everyone else is ok combatting their own dragons!
