Eeep.....OH's just tried to find out what RAM our "new" computer has and he's taken it out of the PC....now it won't fire up!!

When it's switched on I can hear something whirring (assuming it's the cd drive as there's no BIOS beep) and the monitor is saying "No Signal"

Has he broken it already??:mad::mad::mad:

    First of all, did he take ESD precautions while handling the RAM etc, i.e. was he at ground potential with an earth strap?

    Guess not........:naughty:

    Ok, how many sticks of RAM are there?

    If more than one has you tried using another stick of RAM on its own to eliminate a faulty block?

    Is the RAM stick seated properly? They only go in one way round!

    He might have knocked a few connections loose when getting the ram out.

    Check all plugs a secure and pushed firmly into their sockets...

    Also depending on how many slots the PC had for memory, it might need to be in the first slot to be seen.

    Did you check the connections from the monitor to the PC ?

    Make sure the two levers either side are 'clicked' in and gripping the sides of the RAM. If that doesn't work, try moving the RAM to the next slot along, and see if that does anything.

    Is the ram seated correctly, ive done it myself where ive not seated the ram and the pc wont start, a way to tell if its seated right is if the 2 white clips are locked down correct

    scottishf.....might be a girlie but know about monitor connections ;) tried it with another monitor and it's doing exactly the same thing

    s0litaire, I've tried all the plugs, can't see anything loose after I've pushed all the ones I can see back in

    If you're not getting a BIOS beep, it's a good indicator the RAMs not been put back in right. Follow advice as above and check it's in firmly with the locking clips up against it or try a different slot.
