Hi jwil and peaceandfreedom - peaceandfreedom thank you so much for your kind, supportive words. Sometimes i think i shouldn't post some things on here but then when i do and i get responses like this it does really help and makes a difference to how i feel :)

Its funny how we all need new windows and doors isn't it? Although for me I need lots of other things too as already posted :o

peaceandfreedom - there are times when i am really down about things - how i got in this position, how i am unhappy with alot of things in my life. At these times, as tough as it is, i keep taking baby steps - so i'll list on e-bay, sort out a couple of things for the carboot, and all these things declutter my home which in turn makes me feel a bit better about here even though there is all this work that needs doing :o Or i might do a survey or free bingo then i still know i have taken some positive action.

    (hugs) to you too.

Jwil - hope it is a good weekend for you x

    Hiya jwil

Cracked patio doors hmm ... i think i'll pass :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Aw! Sounds like you had a lovely day visiting your sister and nephew.

That sounds such a long time to wait for counselling - really hope your hubbys return to work goes ok.

Maybe its a good thing you aren't carbooting this weekend - it'll give you the time to clear the extension ready for the survey and once you've cleared the extension you'll probably both feel great for having a room/area of your house that has been organised and has space :)

Erm... the extension is still as cluttered as it was on Friday  Better make it the job for tonight. We didn't car boot this weekend, but I'm not actually sure what I did do??

Ah, sorted some more stuff, listed a lot of books on amazon, did ebay relistings, wasted a lot of time not doing much :o did a load of baking yesterday.

(Wades into this thread after a long absence).

DDFW - I know what you mean and you have my sympathy. I wish I knew what to say to get rid of the worrying but if I did I'd use it on myself.

I'm in a very similar situation with no money, feeling alone and a million things to worry about. But for now, I just wanted to offer you a virtual hug and say things will get better. They have to, for all of us. We're strong, we can do this.

I'm the same too. It's a horrible situation to be in. We can at least be there for each other on here. Feel free to vent whenever you want to!

It's nice to see you back peaceandfreedom, I was hoping you were ok. :)

Houses are a nightmare aren't they. Ours needs complete renovation, it hasn't been touched pretty much since it was built in the 60s. It will all get done one day, it's just a case of hoping and praying it will all keep going until we can afford it.

Those baby steps do make a difference to how I feel too. The thought that SOMETHING has been done, however small.

Well DH has gone back to work today. His mood was completely down this morning, and I've woken up feeling rubbish again today with the stress and worry. I'm hoping that it will go fine, and he'll be ok.

We've had such a good and productive 3 months while he's been off, and today it seems like it's all going to slip back again. I really hope not.

He's bound to feel a bit apprehensive about the first day back at work after a long break, hopefully he'll come home later and say it was much better than he thought it would be. :)

And well done on your 4 stars, wow! :T

The baby steps do make a difference. Today I've been cleaning the floors everywhere, dusting places that haven't been dusted in a while, cleaning the kitchen windows and it's made me feel so much better. I've also freecycled something and put a couple of other things up for sale. :j

Our house made it past the 60s but the kitchen and one bathroom are firmly in the 70s and mega-grotty with it. The ensuite bathroom is slightly newer but is still grotty. One bathroom is being completely replaced soon, I will renovate the other bathroom myself.

With the kitchen - for years and years we've done nothing with it because we've never had the money to do it properly. I've finally decided that doing small things to make it look better is better than doing nothing at all. It really is so hideously awful, just painting it would make it a lot better.

New windows and doors are obviously not a DIY possibility - somewhere somehow I need to find the money for that.

Doesn't help that OH does nothing AT ALL, never takes the initiative, never shows any interest, would happily live in complete squalor. :o

DDFW you are right that doing small things helps a lot, I've been doing that this morning and it's made me much more cheerful. Or maybe it's the fresh breeze outside, I don't know. :)

Thing is, I can't talk truthfully to anyone really about my situation with regard to debt, the house, my OH. It's all bottled up, and wakes me up at all hours of the night. Those dark night-time hours when everything seems at its worst and my stomach clenches with worry and despair. And I ask myself for the millionth time 'How did my life end up like this?' and 'Why did I make so many lousy decisions?'.

It always seems better in the morning and I know so many people have lives vastly, horribly worse than mine. I know I'm the only one that can do anything about it all, but it still doesn't prevent that night-time anguish. :(

He's just texted me to say ok so far, so fingers crossed! It's never going to be great, but I'll settle for bearable.
