    Happy New Year jwil!

I hope it's a good one for you. I've got a good feeling about this one.

DH got me a kindle for Christmas, so I am loving that, though I really need to get my pile of books down more!

Woo hoo! That's great. I bet some of the books on your list will be free downloads too... hopefully! I'm currently deciding whether to get rid of some paperbacks (tiny tiny flat) and take maybe £50 or something to rebuy my collection. Think it's probs worth the storage space right now but then I might regret it later... hmmm.

Thanks La Escocesa, I've got all the books from the list that I still need in my amazon wishlist, and unfortunately none of them are available on the kindle. Saying that, I've only got 60-odd to go so loads of them are available free, I just don't need them!

I've decided that the books I really love I will keep, but anything else I will stick on the kindle to save space. I've got to get through my hundreds of books on my to be read pile first, so I'm not letting myself play with it too much!

    Happy New Year everyone

I woke up yesterday morning decidedly underwhelmed. I'm usually up for a new year and enjoy planning my resolutions, but this year just kind of felt like it was going to be another year of hard slog, the same as last year.

However, once I got that out of my system, I'm feeling a bit more positive. This year is still going to be tough, but I'm hoping that by the end of it, I'll have a much less cluttered house. It is so true that a cluttered house drags you down. I hate that I can't do anything without having to reach around or move a pile of 'stuff'. I long for clear floors and enough storage, so that I can keep the house clean and tidy.

I can't relax in the house at the moment, and this needs to change.

I had a book avalanche the other day - one of my huge piles of books has fallen over, and it's a lot of hassle to pick it up because of the other stuff piled around.

I am not going to go on like this, and will make a difference by the end of this year.

I read 187 books in 2010, which is pitiful for me - I usually read over 300-400. I need to read a lot more in 2011 to get rid of the piles of them!

I've sold one on amazon today though, so that's one that will be out of the house on Tuesday! And £3.88 in my pocket thank you very much. :)

My other resolutions are the usual ones - pay off my debts and lose some weight!

I'm suffering a lot from anxiety at the moment, which I think is related to money - although I don't think I worry about it too much, it's always at the back of my mind, and it manifests itself physically - I continually have knots in my stomach and find it hard to eat, have any energy and motivation. I've got some Kalms tablets to hopefully chill me out a bit, and I think if I improved my diet it might help too. So I really need to do this. Because I find it hard to relax in this cluttered house, I think that me getting on with that will help too. We really need to make this house 'ours' rather than a storage container of things we have inherited.

I'm going to make a bigger effort to make a Payment a Day towards the debts, and really tackle those overpayments. I really want my debt to be £20k by the end of the year so am going to really have to work for that.

:wave:Have I been on your thread yet? Hello over here.

Book avalanche :) I would love a house full of books. My dream would be to have a library type room with floor to ceiling book shelves and a big comfy chair.

I have tidy/organised house. Maybe I should visit you I love sorting/organising/boxing stuff. At my physiotherapists the other day I ended up folding towels away for her while I was waiting for us to all go out for the curry. I can't help myself and at work I'm always trying to tidy the reception and getting in the way. You need a pet Kate?

I have a Kindle too and I love it. I just downloaded some stories by Patrick Ness. My favourite author (Manda Scott) recommended him on twitter. They are classed as 'young adult/childrens' but a bit like Harry Potter and His Dark Materials Trilogy are enjoyable to adults too. The New World is a little short which is free if you want to try it. The Knife of Never Letting go is only £1. Sorry probably not helping your NSDs :(

    Take Care.. Kate x

Just read your post. You posted as I was typing.

Kalms help me too. Although my friend at work did ask me what I had been taking once? I sometimes go a bit hyper with them but I feel OK and chilled when I am hyper. But if I have coffee I'm a maniac so that might just be me.

I also take the herbal sleeping tablets sometimes and it makes a huge difference getting a good nights sleep.

I'm sure you will get there with the de clutter as you sound very motivated. I wish we had some clutter I could sell.

    *hugs*

Hi Jwil - Just popping around the diaries. Really do appreciate the challenge you have set up as it is making me feel really motivated :D This could be our year :j:jYou are probably doing something similar to this anyway but I am setting myself a target of £15 maximum for weekly food shopping for January - in fact taking this as far as possible into the New Year. Will need to be £15 as OH wants certain things that i can only buy fresh each week and of course there will be bread and milk to buy. But we have lots and lots of food in the cupboards and in the freezer. So what I will do is shop only at 1 supermarket and then transfer the difference across to a bill  This way i won't be tempted to go into other shops for unnecessary top-ups ;)

Kate, you have just described my dream room as well. I suspect Jwil would like a room like that too. We WILL get our dream room one day, ladies. Believe it. :T

Hey Kate, thanks for popping in!

I would LOVE a library, it is my one dream when I win the lottery.

Please come and sort my house out for me, it's doing my head in :D My main problem though is it's mostly not my stuff. It's my DH's mothers stuff, so I can't exactly go through and get rid at will, I have to wait for tomorrow (which never comes).

I'm focussing on clearing my stuff though, and chipping away at DH so hopefully he will get on board soon.

Thanks for the book recommendations, I shall check them out. I'm not allowing myself to use the Kindle too much though, as I need to clear the avalanche first
