I can't remember the various things you've been discussing now (age problem) but heregoes.
jwil what a bu**er about the dds it hasn't happened to me for a while but I do remeber it well. I always found it odd that the charges were more than it would have cost if they'd honoured it. One bank would pay silly dds but bounce the mortgage  Your PADding's going well.
I have two blueberry plants in ericaceous compost in pots. It's their first year so not a huge crop this year, likewise with the raspberries and blackberries. I've had about 50 lb of plums and have tried varying ways of using them up, jam, crumbles, just stewed to add to porridge, de-stoned, sugared and froze and I've froze some whole. Pears next
Good to see you again retired!Grr to annoying log in problems.
It's weird how banks work isn't it. I can never fathom why they pay some things but not others. Oh well, hopefully my brain is a bit more in gear so it shouldn't happen again.
I'm very envious of all your lovely fruit. When can I come round for pudding?"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Got to try and figure out what I've updated.
I've received £5 amazon from a survey site, and redeemed another £5 amazon from Bingoport.
I sold another £5.97 worth of stuff on ebay the other night, and so far have withdrawn £5.00 from paypal to add to my total.
£95/£1000 = £905 to go.
Have finally seen the notification about free listing so should get some more on this weekend.
DH has started some new counselling, and this seems to be going much better which is fantastic. He's been a lot better recently, so fingers crossed it lasts."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". My fingers are crossed.
Good luck with Ebay sales this weekend. I'm going to have a scout around and see what I can sell.0 -

The meal out thing - it's funny, I have always refused to split the bill evenly, and have always paid my way. I think it's a very unfair situation to be in - especially if you are not drinking, or if as you say DDFW, there are 5 or 6 in the other party vs 2. I'd not put up with that at all - it's incredibly rude of them to expect a 50/50 split!
I agree totally here. It's one thing when there are two families, say, going out and splitting the bill but it's crazy for a bill to be split 50/50 when one lot is a family and one is a couple. Especially as they seem to have plenty of money - it's a downright cheek.
I try to avoid getting into rounds as well if I'm in a pub (not very often). I don't drink much so I object to forking out 15 or 20 quid for others to drink (G&Ts and things) when the cost of my own drinks is tiny. So if I'm not drinking much I'll refuse a drink and just get my own. Happy to plead poverty if that's what it takes.
I have a friend who is totally the opposite. Always accepts drinks from others, yet rarely buys a round herself. Always the last to volunteer any money, sooo tight. Yet not short of a bob or two, have several BTL properties etc.
I often think that it's those with the most money who are the meanest but that's not true across the board because we have other friends who are very well off and they are generous to a fault and wonderful hosts.

Hee Hee, it's nothing that intelligent! It's just which account I've paid towards - Sainsburys, Cap 1, If, Egg and Mint"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

I agree, part of me thinks that some people are wealthy because they do these tricks of not paying their way, but most people with money are genuinely nice and would not take advantage of other people. I think it's just people not thinking more than anything else."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I think those that go through life being really quite tight when they could afford to be more generous, will never end up truly wealthy. Entirely the wrong mindset.
Read this today. A little bit airy-fairy spiritual stuff, but essentially the message is good - concentrate on what you DO want, not on what you don't want. Send out the right vibes and intentions.
And a lesson I personally need to learn is: Stop being envious of what others have (especially if they have been fortunate enough to marry the right man and have loads of money without having to do anything to earn it). You can see the envy just in the bracketed bit.
I need to concentrate on MY life and what I can do to make it better and be happy for those whose life is already very good.0
