I phoned up the window people today as it's 6 weeks since our order, and our new patio doors will be fitted next week, hurrah! :j
I'm so looking forward to it, and it means we've got this weekend to properly clear the extension.
I've also paid £77.83 towards various bits today, though £2.83 of that is covering interest, so £75 off the balance.
I had a sainsbury's gift card so I decided to splash out on some new scales, as mine don't seem to work very well and a new battery hasn't solved it. I've also dug out notebook and pen which I have stored upstairs.
My new plan is to weigh myself every day (or at least as often as I remember) and jot it down in the notebook so I can keep track of how things are going. I'm also going to do my measurements at the top of each page (I figure that will probably work out about once a month) in the hope that reality will kick in and my motivation will appear from somewhere.
I know they say you shouldn't weigh yourself every day because of natural fluctuations, but to my mind this is why you should weigh yourself every day as you get a better pattern of how things are going overall rather than panicking because your weekly weigh in day happens on a day where for some obscure reason you seem to put on half a stone overnight, but in reality it will be gone the next day.
Of course this is what works for me, and it wouldn't be healthy for someone who was very fixated on what the scales said each day."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Well I stood on the scales this morning :eek::eek::eek:
Hopefully writing it down every day will help motivate me."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hi Jwil
Hope your new patio doors get fitted soon, I need to get mine done but have been putting it off. But everytime it rains water is pouring in so probably doing more damage by not getting them fixed.
We did get a quote during christmas but not done anything about it.Year 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

Hi runninglea, thanks for popping in!
I really can't wait to get them done - the glass is cracked (and broken) on the inside so we really have to as it's dangerous especially with the pets.
It's an expensive job though so it would have been nice not to have to do it yet!
If you've only got one quote, I would definitely get a few. The company we have gone for are doing both sets of doors for only a little more than we were quoted for one set by another company."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Well DH has crashed and burned back into his depressed state again.
It's made me ill again. Hopefully he will be a bit better later when he's home from work.
He's been so much better, but yesterday at his counselling session, they told him he probably needs a different type, so he's decided that he's 'unfixable' and so doesn't want to live any more.
When he's in a mood like that I just can't get through to him so I just have to leave it. When he's in a better mood, I will try and convince him to go back to the doctors and we will see if we can work through some CBT. I don't think he'd do anything stupid, but it's always at the back of my head when he's like this.
I just don't know what to do. When he's ok, we have a wonderful relationship and get on so well. But when he's in a black place, it's really black and he pushes me away emotionally. He's also so negative that it's impossible to get through to him.
I always feel so alone when it's like this."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Oh well, Dh is a bit better now, so fingers crossed things can get back on track."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Listed another 21 items on ebay for DH and have just got a £5 amazon voucher from BP so that has been put in my account.
3 items sold on ebay yesterday, but they were only low value so £5.98 for all of them.
DH's bits that we listed last week are doing well and still have a few days left to go so fingers crossed for some more.
I think I'm going to win £105 million tonight on the Euromillions"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Hi Jwil, sorry I haven't been around for a while. Hope your DH is feeling a bit better, it's very hard for both of you when he keeps sinking into the abyss again.
I've had a very busy week and am feeling a bit low tonight myself, but that's probably due to several nights of too little sleep. So I guess I'll go to bed - will check in again tomorrow.0 -
Hi Jwil, just finished reading your diary, wow! Well done with all your sales, wish i could make a bit of extra money but have nothing really to sell. Good luck with paying off the debts, you'll get there.
