Oooh, I bought a couple of items at a boot sale last week for £4. I only wanted one part of it, but the seller wanted to sell the lot together. I stuck the bit I didn't want on ebay and it's gone for £10.50 :T:j:T
I've still got the bit I wanted, and I've got all my money back plus some profit too, hurrah!
Wow, excellent work, Jwil! :beer:0 -

Wahay! Nice one.
Hello JWIL and everyone else,
I just wanted to say that I have finally cleaned my iron. My husband and I (who both use the iron everyday) have been burning things on our new iron and there is a huge nasty brown burnt patch....not anymore. Consulting my 'Woman' Institute' book, they advised me to use....toothpaste!
After 5 minutes of elbow grease, I now have a lovely clean iron. Hopefully when we come to use it tomorrow, it may even give off a 'minty' smell.
I'm feeling rather smug with myself right now and wanted to share this with you all.

Indeed - nasty weather.
How interesting about the iron. There are a few small brown patches on the bottom of our iron and I tried cleaning it other day and concluded that it was the original surface rubbed off rather than burnt bits. Now I'm tempted to have a go with the toothpaste.0 -

Well done on getting the iron cleaned! Here's hoping for some minty freshness today
It's a great tip which I shall use should I ever decide to take up ironing :rotfl: I bought an iron when I was 18 and going away to University. I still have the same one, and I think it's been out of it's box about 6 times since.:o"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". ebay queen - brilliant! love finding out ways to clean stuff effectivelty which doesn't involve going out spending a fortune
although like jwil - erm an iron? i don't even have one in the house
jwil - great that you sold your book and the item you got off carboot too :T
peaceandfreedom - well done on your run
Am busy, busy, busy trying to make some extra pennies - though will probably waste some money in petrol today after someone purchased an item from me which had clearly said on posting timescales would be sent out Friday and they have been in touch saying they need it for Friday. The item isn't with me and only 99p  so will be a 6 mile round trip to pick it up and then get to post office  gah!
Hoping to get on here a bit more at the end of the week when work is a little less frantic! :cool:CC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -

 Indeed retiredandskint. I do have a lot that doesn't sell, particularly the relists, but I wait for free listing day to relist anything that doesn't sell on the first listing so it doesn't cost me anything after the first go.
If people are watching, then they are interested (or have one they want to sell... ). When are you ending your listings? Have you checked completed listings to see what similar items are selling for? If someone has sold one - have a look and see how they described it, what their starting bid was, and how much postage they charged etc - check you are not too high. Are your photos good enough.
What about your stars - are they pretty good? If not, you will show up lower down the search box.
Finally, have you considered offering free postage? You get a higher position in the search box if you do, and I find that things go better with it. You just need to include the postage in your starting bid (this is when free listing days help).
If you want me to have a quick look at your listings to see if there is anything I can spot, then feel free to pm me a link."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
