I'm afraid you've fallen for one of the most common scams around. As you've paid vai bank transfer you have no comeback at all its like gifting someone money, Your only option will be to look at a small claims court action even with that even if you win you won't be guaranteed your money back

If its a business seller it may be worth speaking with trading standards as they may have had other reports

You can request the sellers details from ebay and try and phone but I doubt it will be a proper number. At least report him to ebay and they may close his account

Sorry the news isn't any better

    dots??

I never did understand why anyone would spend that much on a TV, don't they know you can get them for free off of freecycle?

And if you don't know about the scams on ebay.....don't use it...plain and simple

    Hi All,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this message or not but i'd basically really apperciate any help that you could possibly please give me asap as it appears as though i have just been a victim of a fraudlent money stealing type crime and i am therefore standing to lose a lot of money with the the exact figue being at £1920 which i would therefore obviously like to be able to get back asap as i really need it to be able to pay my rent ant bills etc and would therefore really greatly apprecaite any help that anybody could please give me asap.

Basically, I have just bought a brand new tv off of ebay for the full price of £1920 including all of the delivery and warranty costs etc but when i tired to make the payment via paypal which the seller said that he would accept, he said that his account wouldn't accept any payments for some reason and he therefore said that the best way to be able to make the payment would be to pay it directly into his bank account so he therefore then gave me his bank details but i was wary about this as i had always paid via paypal previously and know that they offer a really good buyer and seller protection policy but this guy said that i could too get a lot of security via paying it straight into his bank account anyway and also that it would be a lot quicker for the payment to process menaing that i would then therefore be able to receive the item a lot quicker, and i also then looked at his feedback and he had 100% positive feedback ratings from over 60 transactions so again i though that he could be trusted, and when looking at his feedback comments, i even noticed that he had actually sold at least 2 tvs as recently as in the past couple of weeks and had again receivbed positive feedback again for both of them so again i therefore though that there was no reason not to trust him, and he also issued me with a full and detailed VAT invoice for the purchase of the item as well as his address details so that i could be able to contact him as well, so i therefore made the payment into this bank account on Monday and i then got the receipt from the payment via paying it with cash directly into his bank account via my local Barclays bank branch as he had a Barclays bank account so it would therefore mean that it would hopefully go through and be processed as quickly as possible.

Howeverm after getting the receipt to show that it had indeed been processed straight away, i then emailed him straight away and added a scanned attachment of the pauyment proof receipt onto the email and sent it straight over to him to prove that it had been processed, however, this was on Monday that i made the payment to him and whereas in the past he had always answered all of my emails straight away, on this occasion since he made the payment he hasn't responded at all and now that it has been 3-4 days i amnow beng led to believe that i am obviously not going to be able to receive the tv and that he is obviously just trying to steal the money off of me and keeping it for himself and therefore obviously breaking the terms of our deal and also acting fraudlently in placing an acution listing and then not acutlaly going on and sending the item out to me and instead just keeping the money.

I am therefore very worreid about what to do as i was basically buying the tv for someone else as they didn't have an ebay account but iwas initially using my money at first and that they were then going to pay me back after they got the item, however obviously now as they are seemingly not gong to get the item at all, they are obviously not going to be willing to give me their money until they do meanning that i have obviously effectively just lost £1920 through no fault of my own which i am therefore extremely keen to get back as i am sure that you can imagine and would therefore really appreciate any comments back to me asap.

As i said this money was really important as i was basically setting it aside to pay for my rent and bills and stuff as it is basically all of the savings that i have got and as i have now seemingly lost all of this money, or at least for the time being, i therefore obviously need to somehow be able to get it back asap so that i don't fall into lots of debt etc.

Therefore could somebody please get back to me asap letting me know the best advice possible as to what i should do and who i should contact to help me be able to get my money back asap please. this sort of thing has never happened to me before so i therefore don't have nay expeirecene or any reald ideas of what to do or who to get in touch with so could somebody pelase adivse me who i should contact, such as the police or ebay or should i also try and get some other sort of legal advice as what can be done to get the money back for me please and how long may this take please.

Also, has this sort of situation ever happened to anybody else at all please or have you instead heard of anybody else that this sort of thing has happened to please and if so, then could you please let me know what the person who it happened to did and if they were also able tog et their money back please.

Apologies for the long post but i just really wanted to make sure that i tried to explain the situation as best as possible in the hope that somebody will be able to read it and understand it better so that they can get back in touch with me asap with some hopefully helpful and informative advice as to what i should do next please.

Also, if this does now appear to be a case of him trying to effectively steal the money from me by using fradulent measures then why do you think taht he had such good feedback from so many different transaction and that he had also even sold a couple of tvs as recently as the past couple of weeks please.

Many thanks in advance for your help and thanks for reading this post and i look forward to hopefully reading your replies shortly.

    Thanks again

    Steve

Sorry to be cynical but if you need this back to pay rent and bills why would you pay it out on a tv in the 1st place?

Why would you spend this much on a tv on Ebay, when you can get a top-notch tv from Comet/Currys for about £500/£600 less?

    dots??
    Punctuation dots.
There are probably less than 10 dots in the whole post. If he/she talks the way he writes... breathless...

just being cynical, I am sorry for the loss.

'Therefore' is in place of the fullstops. Still exhausting, I nearly lost the will to live. :o
