One of my jobs as a child, was sticking the green shield stamps into the books :rotfl:
I must ask mum what types of things she 'bought' using them.

My mum also collected green shield stamps. They were everywhere.0

Hi Juliff,
Just caught up with your whole thread, you should be really proud of yourself how well you have done. You seem to be really busy socially, I don't know how you fit everything in, from scuba diving, kayaking, guitar lessons!
Our situations appear to be similar, I am now having the issues with dd1 sometimes, she tends to have an answer for everything and I am now referred to as 'mother'. This is because apparently I am now an old woman!
Why? because I have an allotment!0 -

My dad saved coupons from Embassy cigarettes.
I'm thinking that I'm gradually turning into my parents - it's quite worrying really !:rotfl:

Hehe, glad I'm not the only one who remembers them then!
We never collected the pink stamps, others did, and they always seemed very exotic to me! We did have co-op stamps though, and I can still remember my mums Divvi number off by heart!
My Mum also collected tokens on OMO, and we had some rather posh glasses (well, I thiought so at the time) from that."Carpe Diem"

Hi Ally
Thanks for your post, so kind.
I don't really manage, I seem to flying by the seat of my pants most of the time. But, I made a promise to myself when I seperating from my Ex, that I would live, and not just exist (thinking of a famous Oscar Wilde quote there :-))
Oh, and generally, I flounder a lot, and my avatar is in recognition of this very fact!"Carpe Diem"

Here I am again, wondering why I haven’t posted more. Time flies past so fast, you don’t realise.
Anyway, thank you Goldie, I had the best ever birthday, and I really mean the best ever. The reason is that I had a text from DD1, who is away at Uni. She said that she wanted me to know that she really loves me and appreciates everything I do for her. It went into a lot more about how she would not be where she is without my love and support. That is the best present I ever could have had, and I cannot believe how much has changed in 5 years
So, so precious to me. I can’t really put it into words.
Anyway, the day itself was good. I had a productive day at work (no-one knew it was my birthday), and played bridge with the chaps at lunchtime. In the evening I went out for dinner with DD2, after which we went to a little Italian market and treated ourselves to some yummy delicacies. It was a lovely, peaceful time.
At the weekend we went to Devon to my sisters birthday party (she is the gregarious one of us), and we had a good time there too. Saw lots of people I have not seen in a while. Happy times.
Okay, so back to the perfunctory (well, not really, but you know..)
I got in touch with my hairdresser, and she had lost all my details (she is a new one to me). We have rearranged for next week when I am off.
Also, I have decided to get back into the saddle with the ad hoc Mortgage Ops. Starting with:
£8 - the equivalent amount of M& S vouchers received this week;
£25 – net gain from a few ebay items;
£30 – coins saved
It’s a start anyway.
Have done a meal plan too –
Mon - Jacket potatoes with beans, cheese and salad
Tues - Cottage pie
Weds - Tuna and pasta bake
Thurs - Enchilladas
Fri - Toad in the hole
Sat – Out, supper provided
Sun - Roast pork
Mon - Bbq pulled pork, wedges and salad
Tues - Bolognes
Weds - Quiche, new potatoes and salad
Thurs - Pizza and chips
Fri - Away
Sat - Away
Sun - Roast chicken
Mon - Chicken teriyaki
Hmm… got a bit carried away with that! hahaha
Mortgage payment went out today, so will update sig in a bit .
Oh, and finally, have been in touch from chap at canoeing club.
We may be meeting up for coffee again. Like greent says, friends are a good thing
Have a lovely evening

Off work this week, so hopefully will get through a few things. But then again, best laid plans etc.. so I am writingdown my list here to try to motivate me a bit more:
- Finish putting bedding plants in
- Power wash decking
- Ironing (not loads, I try not to iron, but I like my white shirts crisp)
- Photos for e*ay
- Fit new car stereo
- Finish clearing out understairs
- Organise decorator for dining room
- Clean car inside and out
- Give DD1s room a hoover and dust as she will be home soon
- Take rubbish to tip
- Get new rotary airer (this seems to get carried forward every time -- hehe)
- Cut down daffodil stalks
- Weed front
- Weed back
- Cut lawn
I have 3 days to do that as I am off to Mancester on Friday.
Have had a bit of a spendy few days. I treated myself to a new housplant. It is a lovely flowering plant, which thrives in the shade, which is great, as my hall can be a little dark.
I aslo treated myself to some new pearls (not real, I do have some real, but the clasp needs attention), and anew eye shadow pallette (it was only £2.98!).
I was going to finish my bedding plants yesterday evening after the gym, but I had a text from the chap at canoe club asking if I was free and would like to meet for coffee. Well, I did feel I had to live up to my siggie and carpe dium. I insisted on paying though, so that was £5 I did not expect to spend (worth it though, was a lovely evening in the pub garden).
I have lost my little security device, so not quite sure what my mortgage balance is. Better put that on my list, to find that!
Oh, and I have decided to split my two accounts in my signature. I usually put any extra op's to the smaller one, so it will be nice to see that going down faster. :-)
Right, decking!!!"Carpe Diem"

julliff, I'm smiling at your delay in replacing your garden airer. Same situation here. Problem is we have very stoney soil and wherever we try to knock the holding spike into the lawn, it only ever seems to penetrate about half the distance it should, so it either sticks out and doesn't hold the airer's weight securely or is an obstruction to the mower, or it has to be dug out and the process started again nearby. Last time we bought a new airer we ended up digging up half the damned lawn before we finally got the spike in full depth, and the top surface of the it was so damaged from the banging in that we could hardly get the airer pole in it. Believe it or not, not every airer has the same diameter upright pole, so you can't always use the existing spike in the ground. Beware! :eek:0
