    Hi homealone,

We have a thread with quite a few recipes for making tea loaf so I'll merge your thread with it as it helps to keep all the replies together.

    :hello:

I fancy a tea-loaf, like the nice people at Yorkshire Tea make.

I've tried a search but "tea" and "loaf", unsurprisingly, only narrow it down to about 84 million threads.

Can anyone point me at a recipe please?

    Ta very much. :T

    hi Mr Bad Example,

I have a recipe that I make regularly, my kids love it, the recipe was given to me by my 88 year old friend, it is delish, especially spread with butter. Here goes:

    8 to 10 oz sultanas
    4 oz sugar
1 mug of hot strong black tea
    1 egg
8 to 10 oz self raising flour

Method: put sugar and sultanas to soak in the tea, pref overnight, then add egg and then the flour, I don't even bother seiving it, give it a good old mix, put into a loaf tin, bake at I think gas mark 4 if the top goes brown too quickly turn it down, takes about an hour, just keep testing (I use a knitting needle) to check it is done.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Mr B.E. :)

I've added your query onto an earlier thread. Usual rule applies... posts are lisred in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning.

    Good luck :)

Sorry Mr BE, I thought that link would take you straight to the tea loaf.

It's under tea loafs but the recipe is 'Brack'.

...and no, the banana tea bread has no tea...maybe you're supposed to eat it with/for tea?
