    Me again.
    The story continues......................

It ended up that I told my parents the truth and after a few choice words from my Mum he realised that he was being stupid and said sorry and that he would pay off the loan and joint account overdraft off and we would have nothing more to do with each other. That was great the result I wanted until now.

Firstly last week the bank took £97.07 out of my savings account without informing me. When I went in to ask what this was for I was told to bring the balance of my joint account into the black as it was overdrawn. They had apparently tried to contact the ex and all mail was returned so they just took the money out of my account as they had the details. I asked about the loan whilst there and the man said they had no record of me being on a loan with them...........

Today I get a letter from Nationwide saying that my loan account is in arrears and I needed to pay £111.73 in the next week. I called them and they told me this was the joint loan I had taken out in Nov 2005. It still has a balance of £2326.88 on it. The money was coming every month from my ex account but this month he had insufficient funds so they wrote to me. I explained that I had no information on this account and couldn't answer half the questions she asked e.g. What is the monthly direct debit? etc. I'm not sure if they have also sent him a letter or maybe they have and got no answer so have the tried to contact me instead.

I know I am liable for the money but is there any way the bank may be sympathetic considering that it is clear that the ex was paying off this loan and I had never put anything into it? How can I remove myself from the account as it is his problem.

I'm about to start a new job abroad and have no money so simply cant pay it off.

    Thanks
