HOBO28: How do you record phone calls??? -- I was just thinking i ill phone him and say how its not fair and the car has nothing to do with me and therefore the money loan is not really liable to me. He will then admit this and say he is using the loan to get back at me even though he knows its not right. Then all I do is play this to bank police???? would it really be that easy?

Truly, it's going to be ok ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))

Sit back, have a coffee, a ciggy if you smoke. And dream of running away. Sod the money, they'll chase him :D

sounds great dont smoke but sure can be replaced with something else. the thing is i am liable for the loan as its in my name too so i can't run off. i only agreed to put my name on it to help him out and dont even have ANY documentation for it. At the time i did not even dream it would end like this

On the loan, I think unfortunately you are liable because it's a joint loan, so recording him saying he's using it to get back at you won't do any good with the bank.

If he's harrassing you then yes, it might help with the police.

Does your mobile have a record function? Or maybe you have an mp3 player that does?

My mobile phone has a speaker phone function on it. I've used that with a tape recorder.

Be aware though that the police won't be interested in whether he will/will not pay back the loan or not and how unfair that is on you. That in itself does not amount to harassment.

The thing they will be interested in are things like repeatedly calling/texting you if you've asked him to stop. Swearing, threats etc.

By taping/keeping records of calls/texts you are merely building a picture of the harassment so he cannot claim he never called etc.

Nope, your jointly liable. The only consolation is that he would equally get harassed by the bank.

You're jointly responsible for the loan and singly if he stops paying, but you also own half the car or whatever value is in it. He can't have it both ways, if he wants to keep the car than he needs to take over the loan payments himself.

You need legal advice free through the CAB.

As for him putting more money into the relationship - you weren't married so it doesn't count and as you rented the property he can't have put anything extra into that.

He's bullying you but your priority is to get your name taken off the loan if you can or sell the car and pay it off.
