See if they have any Housing Benefit forms there, if not ask for advice on Housing Benefit towards your rent. You should definately qualify on your income for something towards your rent. They would be able to help you fill the forms in,but you will need proof of income (wageslips etc) and a copy of your tenancy agreement.
Along with getting the debts down you need to maximise your income and tax credits and Housing benefit are the two that I am sure that you will qualify for. (Housing Benefit is not the same as Council tax benefit, which I know you can't get).
Get everything organised as much as you can before you go it will make it simpler for them to investigate things and save time dealing with your queries.
You might even be able to pick up a HB claim form from the council to take with you or ring HB office and ask them to post you one out asap.
Good Luck with Wednesday and I hope Cadence enjoys her first day at big school.
Take care

According to my calculations you have £20-39 per week to spend on any thing including food. The calculations are below and I have added a bit to pay some arrears. Take these figures to the court next week and explain slowly and calmly to the magistrate the situation (it is vital you attend court). You also need to claim housing and council tax benefit. If you have and are not entitled you need to tell the magistrate. You have not included your partner's JSA in your income. Any reason?
If you are the one using the car, the costs of the car (£275pm) seem to outweigh the benefit of having it for your job. Is it possible to work closer to home, even on a lower income? (even unemployed? or part time; at least you would see your daughter).
The figures are as follows:
income weekly monthly
self 70.00 900.00
partner
total 70.00 900.00
207.69 divided by 4.33
277.69 total weekly income
spend weekly monthly
rent/mortgage 460.00
council tax 100.00
elec 40.00
gas 40.00
water 60.00
secured loans 0.00
TV licence 0.00
fines 0.00
car 150.00
car ins 45.00
house ins 26.00
bt 90.00
dinner money 24.00
petrol 80.00
total 0.00 1115.00
257.31 divided by 4.33
257.31 total weekly spend
Start= income - spend = 20.39 per week0 -
Hi Maria,
My hubby is also in the forces.
Few questions if I can take a minute of your time,
What trade is he in?
Why is it going to be so long for him to go back?
Would you get married quarters?
Where does he expect a posting? (try Germany! few perks to the job there)
Has he spoken to the Army Welfare Officer for advice?
I still think the House Contents insurance is high - we pay £11 a month and that covers all OH uniform including mess kit and any claim up to £2000. Thats with Barclays.
How long as your OH done in the army?
Do you know any other local mums who have older daughters for the school uniform?
I think your other half should just get a seasonal job to boost your income till he goes back to the army or do agency driving?
edit: also forgot to ask
is the car still hp?
and is it a toyota avensis or ford .....
chin up things will endevour to improve.

He was in the REME when he left but when he joines back up he is going in the PARAS
It is taking so long as it is as if he is transferring as he still callssed to be in REME
Im hoping we will get married quarters as it is cheaper on rent and you get CILOCT of wages
As he is going to paras we get a choice of Colchester, Essex or St Athens, Barri here in Cardiff.
He has done i think 9 or 10 years in the ArmyI still think the House Contents insurance is high - we pay £11 a month and that covers all OH uniform including mess kit and any claim up to £2000. Thats with Barclays.
Uniform has now been sorted as members of MSE have kindly helped me with that one. Thank you again
The car is HP and it is a Ford, as you can tell i dont know much about cars, lol. yes it is on HP payments were £200 but have got them down to £1500 -

Im hoping we will get married quarters as it is cheaper on rent and you get CILOCT of wages yeah your not wrong and no water or council Tax! best move i think but dont think about getting a garage or any additions you really dont need!

Will look in to this one on Wed - your contents insurance should only cover uniform like a mess kit - the rest in the case of an accident will be replaced and exchanged through the army

Can you not get rid and buy a car for £150? itll be cheaper insurance and you could just do tpft - I know with the OH its a pride thing but it will only be temporary.
Well I think if you phone sky and got it cut off even if you had to pay a fee, that would save you
A cheap car with 6 months mot and tax would save you .
Again home insurance can be cut by £10 month.
So, if this did work out after a month of sorting the following month
there would be £175 deducted from your outgoings.
Once he goes back (I wish you luck on getting him there)
as you know the married quarters will come out of his wages so you wont see it. and at the most this will be £180 a month! Also if he enquires about accomodation, moving costs and the amount IF he will get granted from the army this would help!
As long as it all works out you could be sorted in no time,
you are doing your best and thats all he can ask for
Good luck

Update
Hubby cancelled his interview today as he believes he does not need to work as I have 2 jobs. I have been home from work for about 10mins and have completely ignored him and dont intend to talk to him at all.
He did try and make an effort by cooking me tea but i still dont care. he really needs to prove himself now, he is pushing me too far.
I HATE him, i really do He is a useless, pathetic boy of ahusband of mine that has no respect or priorities. the only person he cares about is himself.
Ive had enough, Im so close to tears but im stopping myself, he is not goint to see me cry over him.0
