As promised i said there had been some activity since starting this thread. I took your advice and sat him down to try and talk, he does not really care about the debt and thinks i worry too much about it.
He also said he blames me for him leaving the Army, he said he cant take it out on our daughter so he takes it out on me. he did say he was sorry for being like he has to me. since we had that chat he has still treated me the same way.0 -
If you're renting I'm surprised that you need buildings insurance. That is normally the landlord's responsibility. You should insure your contents but that should be relatively cheap.0

sorry it is contents not the building. it is so high as we have to have insurance to cover all his Army kit0

Hi Maria
I've been checking this thread religiously since you started it, and whilst I don't have any advice which hasn't already been offered (although I'd echo the pointers to the OS board - it's fab!), I wanted to say that I have everything crossed for you...you sound like a fabulous mum. I hope you find the courage to do whatever makes you happy in the long term xx0 -
Maria, HI HONEY
((((((((((((BIG HUGS TO YOU)))))))))))))))))
Sorry I keep missing you at the mo.
Well done on getting the SOA together, that takes guts. And at least now we know what we are looking at.
Right, what we now need to do is damage limitation, you need to speak to all the companies that YOU owe and your OH needs to speak to the companies that HE owes.
Explain the situation, DO NOT IGNORE LETTERS OR PHONECALLS, speak to companies calmly telling them that although you would like to be able to make payment you are unable to make such payment as you do not have the funds as you husband is not working (!!). The companies may threaten you oryour husband, and also try to pursue court action, REMAIN CALM, you have been strong so far.
REMEMBER YOU CANNOT PAY WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE!!!!
Please call CCCS, they WILL help you, and give you advice they will also give you the support and guidance that you need.
Maria, again I ask how are you managing for school uniform?
If you want to speak to me privately you can pm me and i will help you all I can.
Speak soon

in the right size -sorry
I want to thank her for that, that meant so much to me
the only thing angeluk is getting time to get in touch with them all or getting down to the CAB, Im having next Wednesday of work (Cadences first day at big school) so I will try and do it then. I cant ring them from home as we have been cut off our landline as it has not been paid. I cant make any outgoing calls, and only have £3 credit on my mobile.
thanks angeluk for helping me out with this.
Also does anyone know how and where i can get my eyes tested and a new pair of glasses cheap please. Since starting my main job im sat behind a PC and I know i need to change my glasses as im starting to have problems again.
thanks in advance0 -
Maria, if your job includes working at a PC, then the company you work for are legally obliged to pay for an eye test once a year for you. I'll try to find the link for you.
Also, this is a bit cheeky, but why not try making reverse charge calls to companies from a payphone. Just call 100 (free of charge call) to get the operator and ask them to make the reverse charge for you. The operator will get through to the company and ask whomever answers the phone if they will accept the call. In most cases the companies will accept the charge. I wouldn't normally suggest this as it could be seen as taking advantage but I believe you'd be well justified trying it.
You're doing a fantastic job, Maria ... it'll work out, you'll see.0 -

Hi Maria, I have been reading the thread since you started it and really admire the way you are handling this whole thing, it must be really hard to keep going.
I have been really impressed by the way everyone has rallied to help you too. Sometimes on here people are a little harsh but it has been great to see peoples caring nature particularly as most people here have debt problems themselves to a greater or lesser degree.Julie
Proud to have dealt with my debts
Debt July 2006 circa £55K
Now Debt Free!!!! :j0 -
There is a website https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk which sell glasses (including lenses) for as little as £15.
You ring up with the prescription when you have it. I've not used them myself but I have a friend who got a pair no problems.:j0
