I note that Barclays now offer online banking with their basic account.

I went in branch and applied for YB Readycash account, was approved and given sort code and account number...this was last Tuesday. Still no sign of any card yet though.

Also found it weird that they give you a savings account with a Maestro card too!

I too was asked did I want a savings account when I opened the Readycash account. I opened mine 3 years ago, they only gave you an ATM card, then they brought in the Maestro/Switch card.
The card starts with 6759 and that is what the old switch cards used to be. Infact I still have my old Switch card from my old HSBC account, I upset them a few years ago:o

What I've read on other threads if you are 'undischarged' from bankruptcy you cannot have online banking! Once discahrged you can, think this only applies if folk are bankrupt, not just normal default debts etc.

Instant access account you do get interest on, i have had mine for 10 years, but no atm card, or debit card. i was wondering how the hell do i get money out of my instant access when its not very instant as they didnt give me any atm card

so it is a savings account, as i was given one, i'll have to look into mine see whats happening, :)
    :)
  • Thankyou for this info, I have just spoken 2 the bank manager at Yorkshire bank and have an appointment for Monday. Am grateful that you can now get the added bonus of a debit card with a basic account :)
