    We have to have some time off!

    I like reading your list - and your thoughts on bed linen :) I've got one very nice quilt cover for me (ex-display) one very old one (like, 30 years old - its a Mary Quant!). I also have one really nice one for the spare bed - which will be mine now, I've just realised this minute, because I only have one double bed after all this decluttering. And I have a plain cream cheap one - the idea was to do some craft stuff and make it as nice as the ex-display one, but it hasn't got done so far.

    Could you do something creative with a charity shop something or other?

    Hooray to having the nice spare quilt cover to yourself! :j :j

    I might well do something creative with a charity shop one - but we actually have a very ncie dark purple throw thing with lots of sequins and things on which goes on the top of the quilt anyway :j So really, I was just moaning, because once the bed is made you can't even see my stained and faded quilt covers.... :rotfl: I just get quite demoralised when I change the sheets and the stuff I'm putting on doesn't seem to look or feel any better than the stuff I'm taking off, and it all feels a bit pointless... :o

    (bath's run, just got to stop waffling on and get in the darn thing now!) :rotfl:

    I needed new sheets recently and got some at Asda, two double fitted for £9 in some kind of deal.

    I got a gorgeous kingfisher blue and hot cerise pink.

    They did have less scary colours too.

    My duvet covers have seen better days but last year I bought a lovely piece of fabric as a remnant and I want to make a quilt for my bed with it. But I need to brush up on my sewing skills first.

    I've been making some union jack cushion covers for my patio set (I've a tiny balcony & my sister got me a table and a couple of chairs as a housewarming present) but my sewing machine isn't a proper machine, it is a tiny mini sewing machine from Woolworths.

    It is fine for what it is but I need a proper one. However I don't want to pay a lot so I've been checking out ebay. i've bid on one that will run out tomorrow. I've only bid the starting price though and don't want to go higher so will have to wait and see what I get in the end.
    I've got my own flat :j:j

    Now I have to pay the bills :eek:

    And feed my interiors addiction ;)

    Right, just checking in with my ta da list! :j

    * put clothes away in bedroom
    * changed sheets
    * made home made washing powder
    * sorted washing and put a load on
    * cleaned kitchen and done washing up
    * changed light bulbs in kitchen
    * cleaned bathroom
    * tried to hoover upstairs - hoover wouldn't start so brushed instead - remarkably quick and far more effective than the hoover at getting up hair! think I'll just brush from now on - I generally do in the kitchen anyway!
    * cleaned fridge
    * made and ate pancakes - one with goats cheese and rocket one with egg, mature cheddar and friend mushrooms, and one with sugar and lemon Consoled myself by thinking I'd pay atl east £7.50 at a festival for all that lot!
    * mooched about the forums...
    * did 45 mins of transcribing
    * hung washing up
    * had lovely long soak in the bath and looked at pretty garden pictures and dreamed about my cheery garden :j
    * painted toenails electric blue :rotfl:

    Now curled up on the sofa with my knitting about to watch Alys Flowers :j :j

    Makeup! Hello! How's the new flat?? Hope you're settling in nicely! A balcony - how lovely! :j and with a table and chairs!! How lovely to be able to sit out. I'm well impressed at you making union jack cushions! Fingers crossed for the sewing machine!! I love mine, I'm not much good, and can barely sew a straight line, and sometimes I resort to hand sewing because it's easier and neater! :rotfl: but it's still fab! Can you show us pictures of your cushions, I'd love to see them! And your quilt sounds lovely - were you going to make like a duvet cover, or a kind of patchwork quilt style quilt for the top?

    Right, sleeve of my cardi is calling me.... night all, thanks for cheery evening chatter, always lovely when you're home alone! :j
  • What a big list - well done you!! X

    I can't say as this is a kind of whiter-than-white soap powder Lt, I'm pretty unfussy when it comes to things like that (and don't own many white things!).

    I use this recipe for soap powder - although I must confess to nearly running out of washing soda and so it's mostly grated soap and borax. I use my own home made soap - the last batch went slightly wrong and it was a bit flaky anyway :rotfl: the recipe is somewhere in (or linked to) that blog post. It serves perfectly well as washing powder, I sometimes add a few drops of lavender oil or something which makes it smell nice :) I wouldn't like to vouch for its effectiveness on oil stains or whatever, but I've never had a problem with it! And it's really cheap! :j

    Went to the WI - and it was closed!! :eek: had to get a scone from the bakery and cuppa in a cafe - but it just wasn't the same. Mushroom and courgette and basil pancakes for lunch made up for it though :j

    Hope you're all having less rainy saturdays than me!
  • Horrified to hear the WI was shut! But the pancakes sound lovely - off to think of something pancaky for lunch!

    Well, I've made the pancakes last all day - Just about to have another one :rotfl:

    Mr Daffs went out a couple of hours ago, and won't be back til midnight... I'm generally quite productive on these sorts of evenings, and I was yesterday, so let's see what I can manage tonight... So far, not much! :rotfl: But let's start off the ta da list anyway:

    * sewed cheery orange flowery bunting for friend's old fab orange VW camper (of which I am EXTREMELY jealous, so jealous in fact that I'm not sure she deserves bunting!) :rotfl:
    * er, made a cup of tea and a pancake :o

    That's it - see what I mean?? But I have been looking at lots of lovely pctures of things on the internet - does that count?? :rotfl: The plan is a bit of PhD (pah, but it needs doing so going to stop resenting it for an hour or two!), a bit of transcribing, a bit of time out pottering in the garden while the sun's shining, a mini bit of tidying up, putting the washing away, sorting out another load, and then a bit of sewing for me! :j :j Really enjoyed sewing this bunting, simple and cheery, and I've got a bit of a bedding related project in mind that I might reveal later if I've got round to doing it.... :j

    Anyone else planning anything tonight??
