Ooh, questions, questions, how exciting!!
Cherisong - me, organised?? :rotfl: I'm good at making a list! Not quite so good at crossing it off... Actually, that's not true - I'm just absolutely rubbish at getting on with this PhD, and as I've now been doing it for 7 years :eek: I feel like I've been like this for most of my adult life! :eek: But actually, outside the PhD, I'm actually quite good at getting on with stuff! The problem is I try to put things off and do the PhD first, then don't do that, and then nothing gets done! :rotfl:
And camper vans are BRILL! (I'm jealous of Fay's too :rotfl:) I'd LOVE a proper one, but just cannot afford it at the minute. I'm excited about ours though - Mr Daffs has already taken the seats out, has drawn up lots of plans for the back (!), and today made kind of cut out, stick on window covering things (!), so it looks like this one's going to be proper luxurious! :T And I'll be making it its own set of bunting :T :rotfl: I'tll be all red and sequined and exotic in the back :rotfl:
Pancakes - hmm. I do eat them most daysI've always loved them, but I've never had a good enough pan, so they've always been rather a pain to make and not very successful
This pancake maker is basically just a plug in, flat surface that heats up - I usually make mix just from flour, salt and water/milk (sometimes add an egg), and mostly try to have at least a couple of savoury ones first :rotfl: Usually have kind of stir fry of mushrooms, home grown courgette (cooked on pancake maker first), salad etc, and a bit of cheese, before starting on perhaps jam, or sugar and lemon
Have eaten FAR too many today _ I'm blaming Mr Daffs for making lots of mix then only eating one himself!! :rotfl: It's not a b*gger to clean though, it's just a flat surface - we generally don't even use oil to cook, so it usually doesn't even need much of a wipe! That's my idea of a kitchen appliance! :T
Makeup - your balcony sounds lovely! I'm quite jealous of that too :rotfl: And what an absolute bargain for your giant collage! :T Looking forward to your cushions! :T Pah to the sewing machine (and don't you lot worry about hijacking my thread - as Fay said on hers the other day, it's not 'mine' it's ours!) and good luck with only winning one rucksack! :rotfl:
LT, nice to see youAnything exciting planned for tomorrow for you??
Off to update the ta da list...0 -
HI Fay! :j Stop apologising you lot! :rotfl: Lidl is a good idea! They have some fab offers (and Aldi, and Netto, worth keeping an eye out on the websites!)
I'm afraid I must also confess to having a *small* liking for pretty pictures of houses I wished I lived inI think Mr Daffs despairs :rotfl: I've so far resisted the urge to actually buy one new, but there's a charity shop near me that quite often has old copies for 30p :T And when I went to by our new car the other day, there was a charity shop that had 3 old copies of Country LIving for free!! (although I did give a donation). I'm still ploughing through them, and then I'll cut all the nice pictures out and put them in cheery scrap book/inspiration book :T :T
(I'm kind of wishing I shopped in Tesco now!) :rotfl:0 -
Right, here's the list!
* sewed cheery orange flowery bunting for friend's old fab orange VW camper (of which I am EXTREMELY jealous, so jealous in fact that I'm not sure she deserves bunting!)
* er, made a cup of tea and a pancake (and another one )
* cleaned kitchen, washed dishes, brushed floor, emptied bin
* spent half an hour in the garden, pruning acer, lopping bits off roses and privet, inspecting (resolutely green) tomatoes, chasing naughty snails away from my courgettes, inspecting slug damage on now non-existent cabbages etc...
* took photos of bunting
* put a load of washing on
* worked out how to make stupid fan noise on laptop stop - silly thing was still trying to connect to the printer (it's not plugged in)
* 45 mins of PhD :T (didn't get much done, but did pretty much concentrate - it's a start, right?? :rotfl: Must get more done tomorrow!)
* 1 hour of transcribing, got to the end of a section :T
* put old washing away
* hung new washing up
* Shred Day 13! :eek: Put lots of effort into it too - thought I was going to keel over at one point! Measured waist and was glad I didn't stand on scales this morning
* did some planning and plotting re bedding
Bit too late to start cheery new craft project now (and can't be bothered climbing all the way up to the attic :rotfl:) so going to get on the sofa with my knitting :T
Night all, thanks for keeping me going this evening!! :T0 -
Firstly brilliant and well done on motivational front - you spurned me along too so thanksCheery_Daff wrote: »HI Fay! :j Stop apologising you lot! :rotfl: Lidl is a good idea! They have some fab offers (and Aldi, and Netto, worth keeping an eye out on the websites!)

I compulsively read interiors magazines. Have just got a Living Etc subscription for the grand total of nothing! All thanks to Tesco clubcard vouchers. I try and recycle as much as possible and use for inspiration for cheap makes around the house or to sell on.
I'm meant to be having a relaxing weekend but am inspired to hang all my pictures tomorrow. My boyfriend will despair of me!

Mmmmmm, pancakes.... cheery, you don't use eggs very often? Okay, I've just found another way to use gluten free flour then. I *love* pancakes! When I've unpacked in the new place, I'm definitely going to be making pancakes. And cos there's no egg, you can make a lot of batter at once and just whack it in the fridge? Mmmmmmmmmm.....
makeup, I love the sound of the balcony too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Sewrubysew, nice to meet you! :j What kinds of things do you sew and make?
KC, morning! Don't always use eggs, partly because we don't always have them, and partly because I was vegan for years and used to make passable pancakes from nothing more than flour and waterBut if you can't eat eggs, then they really are fine without! :T Good luck! I find a little bit of salt in the mixture makes all the difference, even if you're having sweet ones
Oooh, Fay! Do you not cut all the little pictures out and stick them on things like me then?? :rotfl: If not, I'd love to see them, will investigate sending you a large SAE etc but only if it's not an inconvenience and if you really really don't mind!
Oh, and morning everyone! :rotfl:
Woke up in a bit of a panic about lots of things to do today - hate it when that hppens! But I'm dressed and eating (value, fake) shreddies, and the sun's shining, so it can't be that bad can it?? :rotfl:0 -
When I gave birth to my second son my beautiful friend made me the most amazing pancakes from flour, milk, sugar and vanilla essence. No eggs. The midwives still talk about them now!
Daff, I have an enormous pile of things waiting to be sewn and lots of ideas but a bit of a fear of my sewing machine and lack of time/motivation to progress any further. I was hoping to do a dressmaking course this term but am starting a new job so have had to postpone. I collect old fabric to turn into cushions, toys and housewares. I made Christmas decorations last year and am thinking about doing the same again this year. I recycle comics and would like to get my hands on some vintage magazines. Cheery - I've done that for the table (morning by the way) but generally I just read them - I am happy to send them on to a cheery home
Pancakes with no eggs - OK - HOW?
I'm a bit dense here but I thought you always needed eggs - but I guess the flour/water thing should work....
Cheery I've a question, when you're doing your savory ones, do you put the savoury stuff in the mix - or add it when the pancake is cooking - I've only ever added stuff when they are in the pan like bananas - YUM!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there. :beer:
