Yes I think you can count that as 25% - looking good!
I'm in York on Tuesday too
Re-pointing is replacing the crumbly mortar with nice new stuff.. will see how it goes and if we can pass on any wall-related tips (I have visions of us covered in mortar and the wall falling down :rotfl:)
Oh yes, w*rk, better do some of that too!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Don't get in the way of that wall! sounds like it'd be better to knock the whole thing down and start again!
At least our wall will only be about 18 inches high if it falls down :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I too can understand not wanting a UPVc door, but this one is british racing green and comes with all door furniture ... However, I do understand if you feel the need to decline
I too will be in York sometime very soon. I am running a half day workshop at the end of June (Sat 25th) and really need a venue ... (workshop will be for 4-5 hours and I need a room with natural light for up to 10 people with a plug that I can plug a kettle into. Also needs to be easy to drive to with cheap parking and accessible by public transport - not a lot there really!!!!any ideas?)

Hi, Have a great weekend at Austwick. We were walking up there a couple of weeks ago and it is a lovely area. We don't live far away but are down in Shropshire (am posting this from our caravan).
I went to a music festival in Stavanger many moons ago and loved it. I was a fiddler in those days but there is lots of flute playing involved as well. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Hi Cheery and everyone
NorthernLas have pm'd you- Forgot to put measured our door and yours is a little bigger but we actually need a bigger front door as this is extremely small - all the neighbours have clearly replaced theirs and gone to standard sizes so shouldn't be too much of a problem
- unless Cheery wants the door that is
Oh and regarding your venue in York hope that you get something sorted if not I remember taking part in a survey type thing when I was last there and can look up where that was if that will help? Am sure Cheery will be by with some good ideas for you though
Cheery will pop that newspaper clipping in the post for you this weekend and massive congrats on the savings :j:j:j

DDFW - Read your PM first ... door is available unless Mr C changes his mind on upvc (actually it may be a composite one, but it is at Mr NL's so I haven't seen it in a while). Nice to hear from you!0

DDFW, the door's yours, apparently we're not countenancing uPVC here, sorry!
(and thank you, thank you again for thinking of us!). I hope you have a great time walking through it and thinking of all the fab MSEers
:j :j :j :j
Hmm, York, hmm. I actually don't spend much time there! Well, I get off the train and onto the bus, and out at the officeNo idea whether the university have rooms? What about the Spurriergate centre?? (in an old church, I know they have a cafe in there but possibly also have meeting rooms?? And I might have spelt it wrong!
) In centre of town. I remember we also looked at Fulford village hall for our Christmas Party
(think it's on a bus route out of the centre, but you might want more central than that). Sorry, I'm not being much help!
Will have a think on...
Thanks Triciax, Good to know it's a nice place I'm heading to! :T :T Feels like ages away, but in fact I need to be all ready by tomorrow night  bed's not in the car, and I actually have no idea where the flute is :rotfl: :rotfl:
Nice day today, worked at lovely office mate's house :j :j Then went to visit a friend I've not seen for ages for a cuppa, then other friend came back here and dug out those paving slabs for me, and we had a lovely pasta salad for tea and put the world to rights :j :j
On the subject of paving stones... you know he was bringing slings and lifting gear and scaffold poles?? As predicted (by me, at least), he just lifted the damn things up with his hands and moved them out of the way :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: And I managed to dig 3 of them out in 10 minutes flat - goodness knows what I've been playing at (well, actually, we realised my problem when I stopped for another 10 minutes to relocate a family of woodlice... :rotfl: :rotfl:)
So question is - 10.30, to shred or not to shred??
Not to, I think
(although I got a letter from Slimming World in the post yesterday inviting me to go back - do you think they spotted me in the street??  Or is this the universe trying to send me a message??? :rotfl: :rotfl:)0 -
Lots going on on here, all very cheery indeed
Not *awfully* cheery needing to repoint, however - my house needs that, just like the last one did, there are quite a few wibbles in the mortar that are home to all sorts of beasties, they'll need to be brushed out to find new homes before the mortar goes in. I might just buy a tube of ready mixed
so I can do the bits over the doors, at least, because there's *stuff* coming down, which is kind of offputting. I have a big sack of powder ready to mix, but its at the very back of the outhouse, and fetching it is not the kind of adventure I was looking for :rotfl:
Cheery, I know exactly what you mean about relocating the woodlice - I tend to stop brushing after 2 minutes or so, to give all the woodlice time to scramble out of the way :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Right, I'm up, breakfasted, and near-enough raring to go (albeit slowly) :rotfl: New neighbours were out with powertools at 8am this morning <yawn>
Working at home today, and lots to do, but it's all lots of different things, and there should be a fair few achievements (FINALLY getting things sent off etc). Hooray! :j :j
I'd also like to go for a run (was going to do that first thing but then got sidetracked reading :rotfl: At least it was a real book and not the internet! :rotfl:). I need to take library books back, and I'd very much like to sneak off for a cuppa with my friend! I can run after work, but library books I'll need to do at lunchtime, and might meet friend then too, all of which means I'll be working til about 6.30...
Then need to pack and get everything ready for scary weekend away! :j :j very exciting0
