Hey cheery, sorry I lost you for a couple of days.

have you messaged the guy with the van on ebay to ask what the reserve is, in my experience they're usually more than happy to tell you.

Really think I need a teapot feeling awfully uncivilized by not having one, it is difficult thought as OH doesn't drink tea.

After reading your diary last week, I managed to get some material from a second hand shop, it is a flowery duvet, really nice which I can make into a peg bag and apron etc. Think I might actually make myself some little purses out of them for my envelopes.

Well done on being so motivated and disciplined hun

Hooray on the flowery duvet cover!! They really are the most economical way to buy fabric I think :) I got a single quilt cover and pillow case (100% cotton, red and white stripes!) for £3.99 recently :)

As for the van - didn't email and ask the reserve price, but did email and ask about insurance/test driving it. Emailed back to say he's still insured, so as long as we were fully comp (we're not) we could drive it. Can arrange a day's insurance no problem - but the tax has just run out, and neither of us willing to drive without tax, or buy without test driving. Just replied to say that, and that if he wanted to tax it for 6 months online, we'd pay for it if we won, but that's probably not very appealing when he can probably get someone else to buy without bothering to test drive :( So back to square one... Pah!

(and you should just get a little mini one-person teapot! Hooray!)

  • Hey all exciting stuff on here

Transcribing sounds fun, I'm a quick typer as well - amazing the things we learn at school that are 'actually' helpful!!Well done you!!

bumbling about emptying wicker basketc of plates and glasses moved from the house yesterday - shoddily unwrapped or packaged, I'm very lazy - but so far *no breakages*

Transcribing does sound a good way of making money - I'm a quick typist too (77wpm tested by Kelly Girl on a *manual* typewriter) and then I worked for Eagle Star as an audio typist - you had to do 90 minutes audio tapes a day, and I got up to that in about a month, when they actually give you 3 months to reach that speed. I wonder ..........

OOh, I do wish I lived closer to barter for lovely eggs!!

Strangely enough, I didn't actually learn typing at school :rotfl: Me and my sister had an old Commodore 64 computer when we were kids, the type with the tape cassettes that took ages to load. We only had 2 games that worked properly when they'd loaded - Bomber (where some bloke dropped bombs over a wall and you had to catch them by moving a bucket around with the joystick - very cartoonish and rather theraputic!), and (don't laugh) - typing tutor :rotfl:

We used to fight and squabble over who'd get first go, it gave you a sentence to type, beeped loudly if you got it wrong, and told you how quickly and accurately you'd done it, so we could have competitions. I can't *quite* touch type officially, but it ain't far off :rotfl:

And I must say, it's come in handy to be able to type almost faster than I can think for this PhD malarkey I can tell you! :rotfl: And when I was in an open plan office, several older folk came over and asked where I'd learned to do it cos they thought it would be useful for their kids to be able to do :rotfl:

(and now - this transcribing job pays 4-6 hours work for one hour of tape - I get it done in 3 hours, and claim usually for 4 (or 4.5 if they're waffling and talking really fast!), so save my friend a bit of her research budget, and get it over and done with quicker! Mr Daffs reckons I should claim for 6 hours since that's what they'll pay, but I can't bring myself to do it... :o)

Am busy hunting for Mr Daffs' birthday presents - have found what I'd like to get, but it's £125 so he's not having it! Off to have another hunt round... Gosh, I hate internet shopping sometimes :rotfl:

transcribing does sound like good if not easy money. I'm a touch typer but am lousy at spelling, and still get my i's and o's round the wrong on occassion. :)
shame about the van, you'll find the one that you're meant to have. I'm a firm believer that things happen when they're supposed to happen.

Yes, you're right LT, and we're not in a desperate hurry for a van - more in a hurry to stop looking for one! :o

I'm impressed at all the quick typists on here! Mind you, the amount of time we all spend waffling on here, if we couldn't type quickly we'd never get anything else done! :rotfl:
