Hey, nothing in life is ever not productive. A nice walk with Mr Daffs is good and productive on lots of levels, investing in your relationship, investing in your health, enjoying the moment, making the most of the environment and weather, I could go on. As for lunch, well, you must have had to prepare it, eat it, wash dishes afterwards. All productive I would say. Can you tell I am trying to change my way of thinking as negativity breeds procrastination. There , I will get off my soapbox now. Thanks for peeking over the fence (although I dont have one at the moment and the whole world (especially the two grumpy old men either side) can see everything I am doing) it is much appreciated.
Thanks cherisong, well done on changing your way of thinking, this is a great way of seeing things! :rotfl: Negativity does indeed breed procastination :rotfl:
Our walk was also productive as we went to the Co-op and bought fruit, Quorn burgers and milk :rotfl:
Yes, I also did lots of washing up! And picked salad from the garden - so wholesome and biodiversity and other things too :j Then I made a nice cake - so filling the house with the smell of home baking, using up the last egg, er, bit of arm exercise with the whisking?? :rotfl:
Culminating in yet more washing up, and an extrordinarily civilised Afternoon Tea with Mr Daffs, with strawberries and sponge cake (and a TEAPOT!) :j
Just been looking at and pondering over vans on ebay too - all good stuff
Oh, and I even sat in front of the PhD for half an hour while the cake was in the oven!!
So in fact, I've had an exceptionally productive day when you think of it like that!! :rotfl::A:rotfl:
(Oh, and a question - what is with reserve prices on Ebay??? I'm genuinely interested in why people think they'll make a difference - do they encourage people to bid higher than they want to for example?? Turning out to be a bit of a pain for us - eg there's a car we're interested in, starting at 99p. According to what other ones have gone for, age, mileage etc, should be worth no more than about £1000. However, it's about 50 miles away, and we don't have a car at the mo, so would have to either go on the train, or borrow someone else's car, to go and see it, before bidding in the auction. It's got a reserve price on it - so is it even worth us messing around and going to see it if we don't even find out what they lowest they'll accept is for another week, in which time we might well have missed out on several others??)
Or is that just me??
(guess we could just wait til next Saturday and go and see it -but then if we won it we'd have to go again on Sunday to get it! Pah to stupid buying cars off ebay! Pah!)0 -

Sounds like a fab day LT! What's a Yorkshire Tea Party? Because it's in Yorkshire (where?? I'm in Yorkshire too!) Or were you drinking Yorkshire tea? Or is there some specific ritual about a Yorkshire Tea Party (in which case, what is it, I'd love to know!)0
-
it's something that i've only ever heard my mum talk about and only since she moved here from yorkshire, it's just a get together to celebrate Yorkshire day which is today. I think in all honesty it's an excuse for my mum to hold a party
it was a nice day, my dad actually left their flat for about an hour which is an hour longer than he's left it for for months.0 -
Ooh, sounds lovely LT! I didn't realise it was Yorkshire Day today (oops!) Good job I had Afternoon Tea anyway - I must have subconsciously known!
Good about your dad leaving the flat though0 -
Ok, had a bit of a final spurt of energy and got a few things done :rotfl:

* did 45 mins of transcribing, and finished and emailed the transcript - finally! :T
So actually feel like I've achieved something now! Work-wise I mean, of course I achieved lots of lovely relationship boosting, food-making (and mess making!), but actual work is important too sometimes! :rotfl:
Working at home tomorrow for my real job - a scary prospect, as whenever I do anything at home I tend to mess around a lot, but I'm actually being paid tomorrow! Fortunately it's only in the morning, we're out visiting someone (for work!) in the afternoon, so only a few hours, and there should be plenty to do!
Sleep well...0 -
Phew! Working at home day over and done with - with remarkably little time actually spent at home! :rotfl: Had a meeting/interview with a couple of folk this afternoon though, and then a debrief in the pub :j
Got home to a student loan interest statement - £12400.24  £77 interest in the last 4 months! But I still don't earn enough to start paying it off through PAYE, so it'll have to keep increasing i suppose...
Mr Daffs is teaching, and I've unexpectedly got the rest of the evening to myself - got to make the most of it! Transcribing and some Secret Birthday-Related Activities I reckon!0 -
Glad the work bit went OK - I know exactly how you feel about working at home, its scary how suddenly often no 'proper' work gets done, but well done you on getting lots done!
I'm going home now, having spent all day redoing my *first* experiment - i've really got ot crack on
If it makes you feel better - my student loan is bigger - but its still scary
Enjoy the plotting and the transcribing
*what on earth do you transcribe?*Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -
I only got lots done cos most of it was visiting some people and then talking about it afterwards! I can easily concentrate on doing things like that! :rotfl:
Well done on your first experiment! :j Bleurgh and pah to writing up though
The transcribing work I'm doing for a friend who's a lecturer at another university. She's done some research about cemeteries (!) and I'm doing all the transcribing of the interviews. It's really interesting listening to them, and I'm actually a really quick typist (so I can do an hour of interview in about 3 hours - usually it can take anything up to 6 or 7 hours!). So all good fun, and for me, quite easy money (but I had a couple of weeks of not getting on with it, so it's caught up with me now, pah!)0
