Ooh, thanks for the basil-potting tip Fay! :) I might even get the spade out - do you think it would be safe to mix with some of my own home made compost from the compost bin?? I might put that round the redcurrant actually - that's probably more resilient. I haven't used my compost before, but pretty sure there's some in there if I dig around!
  • Depends how 'sick' the basil is - might be better this time to use it for the currant.

But saying that at work, we use the own made compost all the time to pot things up - if it looks and smells like compost IYSWIM you should be OK - should be crumbly and smell nice and earthy.

Goodluck - I'm trying to move, but currently pinned on the floor with a peedie in my lap - coffees here - so its not such a task!

PS can you take the knitting to visit the friend who's going into hospital and do it there whilst you chat (if its not rude) - that way you do two things on your list at once!

Basil looks pretty healthy - there's just LOADS of it all in one pot and I don't have any potting compost left! I'll see what I can figure out.

I could take my knitting with me, his wife is a knitter :) But he's not a complete invalid, so not in bed or anything, so it may feel a little rude :) And because it's mad 4-needle circular knitting, I'm not very good at concentrating AND talking :)

Not done much on the list so far - did fit in over an hour of knitting though (getting my priorities right!!) Have also washed up and done a quick tidy round the kitchen and living room. I'm just having a first go at planning out how I'm going to re-do the next PhD chapter in the next three weeks - this is going to be a horrid one :( Also got to have something to eat cos i'm off to this gig in half an hour!

(I've taken knitting to gigs before - but there's so many needles now it does an awful lot of clickety clacking :rotfl: and this is a sit-down-and-listen-sophisticated-gig so I think I'd be thrown out, regardless of whether I live with one of the band! :rotfl:

Well done on those bits - funny thinking of you clicketyclacking at a gig!

Um, silicone baking heart shaped bun things - never had any success with them, have cleaned them and thought, OK I know a girl that (if she likes silicone baking trays) might like some heart shaped buns in her life........................they were originally from Lakeland and I'm ashamed to say I did pay full price for them!

    Any good for you?

Oooh, silicone heart shaped baking things??? I'd love some if you're getting rid! :j:j

Meant to ask - do you have enough fleece for windows?? I've got a huge roll - but it's all a dark murky green - don't know whether that's exciting enough?? If you'd like it, let me know how much you need, and I'll measure it (have to make sure there's enough, although I'm pretty sure there will be!). No idea how complicated it is to send giant fleece through the post - but other people seem to have done it??? :p

Pah, blitherin internet, sucking time and life away! :rotfl:

I'm having a perfectly cheery day, although some minor setbacks... On the positive side... Had a lovely cup of tea with a friend this morning, tidied up a bit, put some washing on, printed some stuff for work, got a couple of nice books out of the library...

... on the slightly less positive side... the washing is still sat in the machine, and I haven't actually *done* any work at all...

My monthly budget still has a week to run, and I have £32.75 left in the bank  There's still some to come out:

    £4.00 friend's birthday present
    £6.40 bloody shred dvd :eek::rotfl:

which leaves, er, £22.35. I've just bought a train ticket for work, so that leaves £11.50. I have 76p in my purse :rotfl:.

It's not a crisis - I have £7.13 due from Amazon this week :T and I get paid for my transcribing work tomorrow, should be around £60-80 I think :j And my wages go in on Friday - including the £100 extra tax I shouldn't have paid last month.

HOWEVER>.... it just goes to show that I got all over-excited at my new roomy budget and my new job, and went a little tiny bit overboard... And that I apparently didn't add up properly at the beginning of the month, because I haven't taken out any more than I should have done for my little envelopes, haven't put anything other than train tickets on the cash card (budgeted for), and supposedly earned/saved £25 extra this month so far - none of which I have in my possession :rotfl::eek::rotfl:

SO - a little more paying attention is required I suspect this week and beyond! I don't need to spend anything else today. Tomorrow I need 50p for the bus - which I have in my purse, and I've already paid for the train ticket to work. I don't have *anything* in the diary for this week - so it'll be a case of NO spending on cups of tea or anything, or sweets (oops), and being pretty careful with food, and we should make it to the end of the month without dipping into the transcribing money (which is meant to go towards the new van!!):p

Here's the plan then... When the transcribing money goes in tomorrow, I'll withdraw £10 -leaving £1.50 of the monthly budget in the bank (waiting for transcribing money because only having £1.50 in bank account scares me these days! :rotfl:). That £10 can last me the rest of the week for food (Mr Daffs already been shopping today, so just milk and fruit). And I'll just have to go without everything else, it'll do me good! :D

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

Its okay RMC, I'm not a shreddie either :)

But ooh, Cheery, well done for catching the overboardness before it got serious. Its okay to spend nothing for a few days; its not wonderful, but its okay. Just take a book, then you have a reason for not going into the shops :)
